My saff clean up project
Well now that i`ve got my project home, i thought i`d start a thread about it. I know i said i wouldn`t  , but i`ve just bought another Cosworth as i miss my old one. This time i`m building it out of bits to how i want it, so first thing was to source a shell...
Had a look about and found this rather clean 2wd shell in Diamond white. Its a rolling shell which includes doors with internals, bonnet, and boot, wiring loom, Adjustable Avo shocks & springs, brakes, mint cossie alloys with mint tyres, and full cloth Recaro interior all for the sum of £600... https://i160.photobucket.com/albums/...07820Small.jpg https://i160.photobucket.com/albums/...C/DSC00016.jpg https://i160.photobucket.com/albums/...C/DSC00017.jpg https://i160.photobucket.com/albums/...C/DSC00021.jpg https://i160.photobucket.com/albums/...C/DSC00022.jpg https://i160.photobucket.com/albums/...DSC00023-1.jpg https://i160.photobucket.com/albums/...C/DSC00026.jpg As you can see, its not bad for its age, got one or two spots on the arches, spare wheel well a bit rusty and could do with a drivers door but in genaral its all good. A bit early i know, but i `ve found a complete leather interior including door cards, dash, carpet, parcel shelf, etc and a genuine cosworth front bumper with fogs and surrounds for £330. Thats it for the moment, will update as i go... Ed |
Looks a good project mate!
Two questions, where is the first pic, I spy another Saph and a few other Ford's there? :top: Also where did you get a decent leather trim for including doorcards for that money!? I've been looking for ages getting parts together and it's taken me fookin months! :?  Good luck with the project! :top: |
Thanks, the first picture was taken at the garage where i bought it from at www.rscosworthbreakers.co.uk
Luckily, my mate is breaking a cossie rep with the full leather and everything apart from engine as he got hit up the arse hard a few weeks ago so just about the right time i think. ;) I`ll be stripping more parts off his at the weekend... |
You came a fair way down then to Portsmouth! Nearly my neck of the woods! :top:
Lucky for you about your mates car then! not so lucky for him though! |
good start :top: :top:
|
Bargin there :top:
|
Excellent stuff mate. I wanted to do something like this at one stage, start with a shell and build it to how I want. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread to keep up with your progress so keep the pics coming :top:
You had a mint white saff before yeah? |
I did, had it for 4 years.
Yours looks mighty clean and original  Thats what i`m thinking about doing it to mine, looks great :top: |
Cheers mate, It don't scrub up too bad :DD:
Just thinking about putting 17's on it. 15's just seem too small and there a pain to clean but not sure if it will ruin it's 'standard' look :? Sorry for hijacking  |
looks promising mate did wonder why you were selling the st will keep an eye on it :top:

Right, we have some progress. Firstly, I`ve decided to go down the 24v Cosworth route as i don`t have huge amounts of cash for a decent YB. So i`ve started sourcing various parts and braking various vehicles for the parts i need.
I aquired a 2.9 xr4x4 mainly for the MT75 gearbox, clutch and flywheel, engine mounts and many other bits so that was robbed of all its bits and scrapped. http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...F/DSC00081.jpg http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...F/DSC00079.jpg I`m also breaking a rear ended 2.0i DOHC sierra with a good gearbox which will be used with the 2.9 box to make a hybrid rwd MT75 box. I`ve now started dismantling the granada and will have the engine and box out in the morning http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...F/DSC00100.jpg http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...F/DSC00101.jpg http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...F/DSC00102.jpg Slowly but surely... |
LOL at the treetrunks holding the car up......lol
|

I do plan to YB it eventually, but going to save money first :top: Update soon... |

I would like a YB, but for the moment my cash don`t stretch that far. The whole project including the cossie, and the other 2 sierras owe me less than £1500 and i have everything i need, with a load of parts left over.

Ed, i did the 24v on my white cossie, and in the end, after selling all the parts from the donor cars, i ended up with a spot on looking saff, and it owed me £150!!!

Another Update.
Firstly, i apologise for no photos as i have a new laptop which doesn`t like my camera at the mo, but piccys will follow in the next couple of days. Right, well the Granada Cos has been fully stripped and scrapped now and my electriction now has the wiring loom. Ive used the Granada front ARB, as this gives the clearance for the granada downpipes, and i`ve kept the 2wd 4 pot brakes, steering rack, suspension, etc but i`ve fitted the granada lsd diff as mine was missing. My mate needed his engine hoist back recently so i had to put the engine in without the gearbox as the box still needed modifying. Thats what we did today, Lennie (Loonie off here) showed me how to convert my V6 4x4 box to 2wd and TBH, wasn`t as hard as i thought it would be. (Cheers for the help m8:top:). So tommorrow, i can now get the gearbox in with the prop and start on making the exhaust. I`m just waiting to get the wiring loom back, then i can have it running! Hopefully, now the clocks have gone forward, i should be able to get alot more done :banana:. Photos tommorow...:top: |
sounding good mate be nice to see it up and running
