That picture only shows the internal side, which was made from 300 gram glass as it is used purely for mounting the door to its hinges. The external is the part of the door made in carbon, as this is the part that takes any impact. This is how we make all doors unless a customer specifies carbon internals.

The outer of the doors were a white finnish also jay even looking in from the back you could see the fiberglass on the door skin..
You would think that if you ordered carbon doors they would come like the pics of carbon above maybe re inforced with kevlar or such likes around the hinge area after all there shouldnt be alot of weight on the doors. I had a look in the photobucket account but cant find any pics of the doors before paint

Scarey video that one of the UJ just spinning on the spline, gotta be one of the worst things that can happen to a car mechanically!

I assume an upgrade is on the cards?

Does charlie's use the same parts?

charlies uses 4x4 rack with electro/hyd pump

maybe a 3mm hole with a role pin would be the answer

I wouldnt want to trust a 3mm roll pin with my steering, I think a better spline is the answer.

Andy have a look at these I was thinking something like that a hightensile m4 bolt through the UJ and the rack stub to secure it all and stop the splines from ever shifting.

They may be able to offer something, or at least something with a better grade metal

Would something like this be better, like a hex fitting that has a flat bottomed bolt going through it rather than a spline....

IIRC Lee this is the setup used on the mk3 fiesta, When I was working at ford they used to fail mot ALL the time due to excess play in the UJ so don't think that would be a good idea, But I know what you mean by using some sort of hex rather than splines

Unbelievalbe how fast you are going. Made some impressive progress, good to hear you're fine. Carbon is some nice stuff you can do some amazing things with it.
Gonna ask friend of mine if he can made a scuttle panel out of carbon for me... just for my RSi

Nice one, im not in a rush or anything just checking they ended up at the right place in the end, will chat to you about them when you are less busy at some point.

Have you/harvey come up with a solution on the lifter shims yet on your car?

It looks like my recent bent valves on the nova are a result of the same issue that you had at TOTB, so Ive decided to convert mine now to RS200 ones which as luck would have it are a direct fit for my arrow lifters, they basically sit on upside down and have a much larger return on them that goes right up dick that sticks out on the bucket, rather than just sitting on top of the valve, so its impossible for them to come off, might be worth looking into something similar for yours?
