CRAIG HAYTER Thanks mate ... we have Cossies over here but they're a very rare site on the roads but they were never sold here ... all have been imported. They are holding their value (seem to be increasing actually) ... and for the money nothing else turns heads like them . Yeah the Aussie sun is starting to leave its mark on my dash (I think its got worse in the last 3 years than the first 20!! ) ... its on my list of fixes

Well time to dig it back up again ...

I've been away for a while and when do I make it home (briefly) the most attention the car gets is a start (or a jump start ) and a quick lap around the block.

But in my time look what I have managed to source locally from a motorsport tyre dealer ...

... they said they had one (yes just one) and we had to go searching through shelves and shelves (I should have taken a photo ... for anyone with a rubber fetish ) of tyres ... but look what I found brand new ...



a dunlop ...



D40 ...



now thats the shit ...



I think I might have gone a little overboard but man ... there is no more left . It now sits as a spare in my boot.

Now its been a long time since I've updated this thread ... and a very busy time at that. Long story short; one young boy getting bigger, away from home for 5+ months training for work, home for baby boy number two, one month later move out of home into a renter during a full house extension/renovation, shift work ... busy busy ... oh and no sleep . Anyway we're here about the car ...

Whilst I was away it was pretty much parked (half ouside and under a cover), but in between trips home I managed to dust her off and show her at the RSOCVic Concourse in the (AUS) winter of 2008 ...



and scored one of these ...

Then at the start of '09 we moved out of our house with a v young family for our reno ... our timing is impeccable!

The car was securily parked in a garage in started once in a while and rarely driven ... so I'll post a couple of pics of the project !

Doubled our (little) 1920's brick clinker house and I scored a garage ! ...







Now I have somewhere to park, and a bench to work on!

Linc, Ebonycos, speedy-tom ... thanks boys . Positive comments really make it worthwile posting up piccys . To be honest though I'm in awe of some of the absolutely awesome machines (overseas and here in Aus) that are getting built ...

bad boy rs ... as Lincoln said; its the docklands in Melbourne. It used to be industrial river frontage of the city but over the last ten years or so its been developed as riverside residentional (see apartments in back ground), with another footy stadium and stuff.

I had the chance to fix a couple of little things that were annoying me (and believe me ... there are lots of things on that list now !)

The door light never worked when I opened the drivers door, and the warning module always shows it as open. So first place I went to was the switch for door open/close and sure enough ...



it had been disconnected and out it fell!

For some reason the wire for it (brown/red) had been 'robbed for something else ... I'm thinking alarm system but its all messy and a bit wierd (?) ... see the red/brown has been cut and sent out as black aftermarket for something else ...



So out came my gear ...



and I reinstalled the switch back to the original harness' red/brown ...



Good news is my cabin light works but the warning module still doesn't 'see' the door .

Oh well it stays on 'the list'

Something else that need to be done was the jack cover in the boot. It was bowed, faded and cracked in several places ...





So down to a local shop (called the dashboard dr's) for a vacuumed wrapped fibreglassed repair ...





Not quite the original colour ... but I'm trying to build a road car that I'm not stressed about using, so in this case function over form was the requirement .

pritty sure the module warning light doesnt come off that plundger switch, look inside the locking catch in the door and theres a seperate switch in there... hope that helps

The warning module works off micro switches fitted onto the catch in the doors and hatch, if you take the door card off you can see them on the catch, little black plastic things, but probably its the connectors where they attach to the loom than the switch itself

Stunning......best colour aswell. The wiring from the battery looks a lot better, was it difficult/expensive to do ?? Think I'm going to do mine for piece of mind and it looks a bit crap now I've seen yours

difficult? nah fella ... basic skills and core knowledge that just get better with practise. You might be slow ... but quality none the less.

Expensive ? maybe at first but ... buy good tools ... my ratcheting terminal kit wasn't cheap ... but its good gear and will last a long time and do all sorts of jobs around the house and over and over again on the car.

Get in there and do it Stebbo .. if I knew mine was as bad as it was I wouldn't have driven the car!

Well I got to the point where I couldn't find time to even clean the car, and I'd read about it but never done it ... a professional detail.

Did some research and came up with a local company who is developing products and detailing some awesome machines ... met the owner and had an awesome chat about cars ... anyway I'll let the photos do the talking ...

Can't believe it's my car!

Seriously though, the restoration on the paint is awesome. An amazing cleanup. It has made the worst areas look worse but the added depth to the overall paint is obvious. Done by a passionate bloke who knows his trade. Well worth it.

He started out as a painter and become a detailer and set up his own business. Awesome genuine bloke to deal with, and passionate about his job. They only do one car at a time and he can do paint defect repairing (doesnt spray though). He has a forum about bufty detailing and does a little photo story of most the cars he details, and markets 'his own' products. Highly recommend Linc.

Well I've been a bit hopeless (read: too busy) for updates from this year, so I'll try and catch up.

First is some photos from me when I collected the car after the detailing ... the other photos were from the detailer (hence the watermarks across the images).

I left the car over night and when I arrived in the morning this is what greated me ...







I really do like Moonstone ... its easy to look after and is deep. Although a bastard to match, as with any metallic.

So after an enjoyable blat home ... she got parked up in my new garage.

The reason for the detailing was because our summer car show ... Small Ford Sunday was on, and I hadn't had time to clean the car myself ... and I didn't want to rock up in a grubby Cosworth !

One thing I did manage to do with the time i saved was get in and give the boot a good clean up (the bar going across is for additional child seatbelt mounts needed for AUS compliance) ... and what better place to display my Sierra RS model ...





It was a typical hot and dusty February day, and luckily I found a shady tree for me and my boy. I learnt previously that trying to keep the car clean in the dusty conditions would drive you insane ... so I just opened it up and enjoyed the show (and hid from the heat )





I really wasn't expecting it but ... I was lucky enough to receive an award for
best Cosworth ... well chuffed .

Tell you what you after seeing them play.... your little boy can marry my little girl..... we just have to sort which was the dowry/cosworth should go.
