Default My Escort Gti Project (Black Theme In Progress) 06/02/08)

Hi all i'm back again with a story as usual so here goes,

Well last week i went to get my haircut and i know the lad that does it as he was a year below me at school.

Anyway he always chats to me about cars and he mentioned an escort gti he'd owned for a couple of months and said it was for sale ( BY THIS POINT I WAS INTERESTED LOL) So we had a chat and he told me when he got it someone crashed into the drivers side rear door and someone had smashed the passenger door mirror off and he couldnt be arsed to fix it,

He then said if i wanted it i could have it for £350 so he gave me the keys and i went for a look i liked what i saw apart from where the door had been hit it had done the rear arch too plus the passenger side rear arch was showing signs of rust,

Not put off too much by this i returned to the barber shop with £350 and promptly handed it to him

So i got the car home and parked it up feeling rather chuffed at my bargain buy

The next day i was walking to the shop when i noticed a smashed up escort finesse in the same colour as my gti i then went to ask about the car to see if i could buy the rear door for mine as the passenger side was totalled,

The outcome They gave me the whole car so i swapped the door over and scrapped the finesse and got £75 scrap money (BONUS)

Anyway plans are to clean it up get 2 new rear arches fitted and mod it slightly

It's totally standard bar a sportex back box and i chucked an old cd player in that i found in the cupboard lol

Car should be going in for rear arches early next week

I'll shut up now and get the pics up all comments welcome,

cheers, Grant

nice find mate, especially findng the other smacked up car, theres always things like that to be found isnt there, u just have to keep ya eyes open.

I recently had a N reg auralis blue escort which had been hit on back door and arch which i got cheap coz of that reason.

Got myself a cat c escort gti at the moment, i swapped it for a set of rs7 spoke diamond cuts that i had originally bought for my ongoing rs turbo project

Ouch cat c what was the cause of that? There's always cheap motors to be had it's just finding them,

Things are looking up at the min i pick my suspension kit up on friday so will hopefully fit that over the weekend plus i'm rolling round on 17's now that i got thanks to my mate scott crashing his pal's gti into a kerb,

Sold him my gti rims which paid for my bargain 17's,

Should also be getting arches done late this week or next week cheers, Grant

Dan you lazy cooont get the fooker started, I like the wheels too but not as much as i wish i did so i'm still looking for some others, Might have a deal on some 16 inch mondys with the lad i got suspension off,

ZETEC MK4 XR3I Lmao mate i think people just like bashing gti's full stop

As for the idle problem mine did but i've fixed it there's me and 4 mates with gti's and they all had idling problems the revs were sticking at 3000 rpm

Its only the idle speed control valve gummed up but they are interesting to get to let me know if ya need anymore info

OH UPDATE LOL

Car is home now so i'll get pics of the arch work over the weekend,

Just need to book it in for paint now

Nice one fella get some pics up, Mine is lowered 60mm on gmax shocks and springs mate,

LMAO at idle probs they seem to come as standard on gti's

It will be the idle control valve though mate at the back of the inlet 2 8mm nuts get some carb cleaner in it and move the spring with a screw driver to make sure its free,

Some people say you should spray them with wd40 after but i never did mine good luck mate

GAZ Already got a mirror you'll see in a min cheers though

TRIST your car looks nice as you say just needs lowereing

Anyway UPDATE

Had my windows tinted on sunday and got to say a massive thanks to Karl WWW.K-TINTZ.CO.UK For a top job and a cracking price

Also a big thanks to MINIROTTY went to his last night to pick up a cat back stainless exhaust which i had fitted today (will get pics soon)

Although minirotty did me a great deal i have to say i'll never be going back to birmingham again as the ammount of thick cunts that nearly wrote my car off was unbelieveable

PICS
