spaceframe is all welded up !!!

im making myself a sports / westfield / locost / caterham car. My spaceframe is ready and i was wondering what donor car to buy.

What donor car is easy to work with?

Originally, i wanted to use a BMW 325i, because they have 200 bhp, a strait 6 engine and a limited slip diff. I have since been told that they would be a pain to work with.

Recommendations have been a sierra (in the haynes build your own sports car book) and a capri (from a friend).

This will be my first project so i want it easy to start with, but i still want it fast.

i do also have a limited budget, otherwise it would be cosworth all the way !!! :top:

id say sierra cos they have been used loads and loads of times before, so if you encounter any problems they should be really easy to solve

Zetec from a mondeo, gearbox, diff shafts, brakes from a sierra. That way you can keep it a one donor car and avoid the q plate. Keep the sierra V5 if you do this, engine can just come from a scrappy and the number transfered to the sierra v5.

Visit this site www.locostbuilders.co.uk great site will give you all the info you need. Im building an Onyx Mongoose and this site has been a godsend, just about any question you have they can help with.

Donor wise sierra is the best id say but engine wise you can put what ever you want really. Im using a ZX10 from a kawasaki with 137 bhp and a complete weight of 350kgs so i'll get about 398bhp per ton.

I went out as a passenger in a fireblade engined locost the other day, 119bhp and 440kgs and belive me it was fast.
