Ok then. About time for a small update. As your aware the engine messed up and ended up having to be taken out after 850 miles of use, which has put Coley down in the dumps a little bit!
With not much light at the end of the tunnel, a name kept popping up from various users on here of someone that could maybe help him out.
HALESOWEN ENGINES came up trumps. So off he went armed with parts...
First off is the block. This needed the bores boring out .5 oversize....
The Crank has also been ground and it turned out to be worse than originally thought!! So has ended up with the big ends being ground to .5 and the mains .25
They have done an exceptional job of this!...
Also the flywheel has been skimmed....
Due to the credit crunch and Coleys job situation, things are having to be done at a slower pace than what would be liked, but hey its winter time and cars staying off the road this time of year anyway.
The above parts will go back to HALESOWEN ENGINES along with the Pistons, Rods and everything related to it having a Full Balance so hopefully sometime in the new year it shouldn't be far off from being better again!!
In the meantime he'll be getting on with changing the brake pipes in the engine bay due to him not being 100% with them and a general tidy up of the engine bay..........
For now its nite nite car
With thanks to.....

Update time...
After a think with what to do while the engine is out, Coley decided he would have a go at looking into a Hydrolic clutch for the car.
Looking at major players in the game, this seemed to be a bit expensive for the conversion kit, so after browsing for ages on the net and an ebay deal later, the parts were ordered
Due to the xmas period the parts will be here in the new year but Coley has got to work with the clutch pedal addaption. To start with he had to remove it..........
Due to christmas commitments we didn't get a pic of the pedal done, but Coley has assured me that the pedals are back in, this is a very similar picture to how it looks in the car coutesy of andy escos, cheers mate!
Also why the lump was out, Coley decided he wasn't happy with the Brake lines than run across the bulk head. Drained the lines down and to make sure these were empty, Coley cut them in half to make things easier!
Another thing that was on the to do list was the diff carrier. As the rear beam is solid mounted, the diff still has alot of play due to the standard shitty carrier ford supplies. This meant buying an upgaded one or with a man with Coleys hands..... making one!
Standard.....
Modified......
Trial fitted as will have to come off again to be painted..
Apparently it was a bit of a bastard with doing the bolts up, but all in all a good afternoons work done!
I'll make sure theres another update up soon with progress on new brake lines and the clutch conversion. Just to finish off, heres a random pic i took as the car sits now and many thanks again to andy escos for the help with the clutch conversion, your a star!!

Right ive been having a go at it the last two days and ive now got the gearbox moded so the slave cilinder fits
I had to do a bit of work on the miller to make things fit
Then i made a block so i could put the second bolt into
I then did a trial fit of the bell housing on the box
As you can see its a bit on the tight side so today ive had the box out and done some work on the tunnel . Its all now back on the car and i am very happy with the out come so far just got to wait for TRACEY to go back to work as thats where the rest of the parts for this mod have been sent to

Just read this from the start and all I can say is thats one minted car you got there mate, The transformation from what it was to how it is now is amazing.
Gutted about the engine but looks like you have that well sorted now. Hope you get yours running again asap. Well done to you all.

Hi coley, read over the thread, great stuff you three.
I ran into coley on here as I was doing the hydraulic clutch gig on my 3 door resto... turns out my resto is similar to you guys,.... I might start a thread up... (I did not before as I was not sure if I was on par with you guys... such top work) I am essentially walking the same path in Australia but on my own...

What was the root cause ? What will you do differently when you build this engine up? I was thinking of getting the cosworth oil pump but you did that ?
I am interested in the expert advise you get... you have loads of cossy experts there fortunately.
Here is what happened to me.
When I said Im on the same path thats down to having my moto X bike stolen and the engine having to be rebuilt. My engine bought over from UK was in a friends car as mine is in bits, engine never knocked was dead smooth but I just felt it was not right and pulled it apart. (if i start a thread I will document it there) my engine had similar wear marks on crank (not as bad no blacking...) and oil pump and is with a builder being assessed.
Are you sure its the oil pump ?, or was the oil pump just coping the crap from the bearings?, thats what I was told, how would you differentiate, getting a second opinion from a top engine guy here. Its still a mystery what exactly happened on mine but it sounds like your problem however you never mentioned scoring on piston / bore which I have.
I considered all wearing parts suspect. Consequently took my head apart as and found as expected scores on the cam journels which sucks, are yours ok?, It might require the cam journals to be line bored, being assessed... I am getting new cams and probably new pistons i.e: total rebuild.
I would like to know what the root cause is as I don't want it happening again, Like you guys I am just saying, onto the next stage and wishing I had more money.

Just a little update....
Finally managed to get the diff carrier tidyed up and finished. I cut a small bit out of the plate to give it a bit of clearance as the casing is quite high...
Also had a bit of an accident with a bucket of sand blast grit which fell off a shelf in the garage onto the bonnet .... A quick call to DEAN later and 4 hours graft resulted in the damage being 99% sorted....
Here he is hard at it....
Here he is having one of his Retard momments lol....
Apart from that i should be expecting the rest of the clutch conversion kit on friday. It should of been here sooner but i rang the company up today who happened to have the order in front of them .
The woman couldn't apologise enough, so happy days

Many thanks for your kind comments and to everyone else who's posted so far. Positive comments keep my enthusiasm up and get the car to where it is today
