Default 3door cosworth build

here's the beginnings of my 3door build.

a littel background, the car wa stolen about 2 years ago and the interior, rs500 wings and custom wheels were nicked off it. the car was recovered but no the parts. so, i bought it last november and have started putting it back together. i have most of the original rs parts that had been removed in favor of the rs500 stuff, but i don't have seats or rims yet.

anyway, here's the pics.

yeah, it's erik's car. i was surprised he was selling it too.

was a funny story, i was actually working out my finances to get a yb to put in my red merkur and just in passing he mentioned that he was selling it. he didn't expect that i was interested or that i could swing buying it. so i asked how much and it was just a little more than what it was going to cost me to get the swap done on the merkur and quite a bit less than getting the awd done. so i bought it last november. had to take a loan against my house to get it, but it's mine now.

and yes i am interested in seats.

oh and if anyone is interested, i'd be willing to trade the door cards with the custom speaker boxes for a good set of stock ones.

yeah, he's got other plans now though, still will be cossie power. also he knows it went to a good home, someone that will appreciate what it is and build it correctly.

i am planning either a stage 2 or stage three build. more than likely stage 3. i gotta put all the v8 muscle over here to shame. not to mention all the evo's and sti's. all the little rich kid ricers have them and think their shit don't stink.

ok, made it up to the batcave this weekend. i only had a couple minutes so there's not a huge progress report. but, i did find a hose to go from the header tank to the lower tube on the radiator. and since i got the black leather scorpio seats for the red xr, i pulled the corolla seats out and installed them in the cossie. i also brought the carbon hood home so i can grind the holes to mount the vents and brought the front bumper home so i can install all the lights. so, without any more hesitation, here are the pics with the seats.

stu, i am still interested in the cossie seats but am broke right now.

Ah... My poorly car
It was just sitting, had bills to pay, looking for a house so it meant it was going to sit for a very long time. I didn't want to sell it but oh well, it's in good hands.
Maybe another 3dr or Escos will be in my future, don't know when though. I have to admit I have been tempted to get the new Evo's

yeah who ever it was, didn't know what they had stolen. the stuff they took of it was all stuff that could conceivably be installed on other cars, such as the rims and recaros. but the motor was still all there and the carbon fibre door cards. and all the suspension and brakes. if it was someone who knew what it was, the motor woulda been gone in the first 1/2 hour.

oh, and the silly cunts stole the battery too!

If someone knew what they had the car would have never been found LOL. Silly stupid crack heads! I hope they get hit by a bus and live and have to eat and piss out of a tube!

Didn't realise these were even legal in the US, I'd heard they wouldn't go through emissions tests!

Nice to see it being saved though, must turn a few heads, must be a rare sight out there!

i've got historic license plates on it so it doesn't have to be emission tested or safety inspected by the state. of course i have gone over it and my mechanic buddy has gone over it for safety issues.

Historic License Plate.
On what grounds does a car have to meet to get a historic license plate?
I have been thinking about converting a XR4TI but this would be the easier route.

Dont worry I've found what I need to know.

Historic License Plates

To qualify for historic license plates, a vehicle must be 25 years old or older, owned solely as a collector’s item, and used for exhibition and educational purposes.

Vehicles displaying historic or antique license plates may be driven:

To and from exhibitions and educational events without any mileage limitation;
To repair facilities within a 100 mile limit; and
Up to 1,000 miles per year for personal use. .
The car isnt 25 years old is it?
1985 to 1987 for the 3 doors.

maryland just changed to 20 years last year. still 25 for streetrod tags though.

you'll still have an easier time converting a merkur and end up with a better car in the end.
