Default Escort 1981 XR3 Resto project!!! New Engine...

Hi guys,

I recently got my hands on a Escort XR3.

It wasn't in very good condition, but I want to make it completly original again.
Want to use some uprated parts though!

I want to ask you to give me all the information you think will come in handy for me, and also post as much as possible pictures up from XR3's and resto's from an XR3.

My plan is to vlear out all rust!
Put a new engine in. (stil CVH but more powerfull)
Uprated suspension and brakes
Full respray back to original colour (Sunburts Red)

This is how I picked it up!

And this is from today!

Looks like it's in very good condition!
Good luck with it all the way!

Shame on the previous owner for changing the original front!

Nice motor. I hate people who make Mk3's look like Mk4's. I bought a Mk3 Cab not long ago, guy tried to make it look like a Mk4, looked like shit.

Default New goodies!

Got some new goodies for the car yesterday, on the anual meeting of the Dutch XR/RS Club.

Got some Red Koni's with lowering springs, white indicators, original grill, other switches, and brand new bumpers.

Hi Guys,

It's been a while, and haven't really got the chance to work on the car. Was busy building a garage, so I can work out of the rain

The garage is nearly finished, so I bouht some more stuff for the car.
Some more bodywork, but more important.... a new engine!

I bought a RSi engine wich has only done about 3000 miles since it was revised.
But since I don't want the car to become an (XR3)i, I also bought double 36 webers, with a new manifold.

I hope that I really can start working on the car by the end of next week.

Pics of the garage and the RSi engine will follow soon.

Cheers,
