skyline r33 gtr(update 24th june, front end freshen up
i no its not a ford, but i thought id stick a post up to show the work weve been doing on it,
payed 15k for the car 7 months ago (paid a bit much really) and it was tottaly standard bar some air filters.
this is a few weeks aftwer we got it
as you can see we added a front mount cooler and full 4" (pipe is 4") system and 5" back box straight away, along with a chip it made 355.6 bhp at surrey rolling road.
she then recently came of the road to be made a bit more special,
so ill pop some pictures of the new reincarnation up tommrow after a good clean,
what ya reckon then peeps,
and ideas welcome.
cheers for looking

right,
the old man recently booked it in for a change of turbos, a power fc, apexi acvr, tein coilovers, new fuel rail, injectors, fuel pump, oil cooler ect
so it came back yesterday and to say theres a big difference would be a fucking understatement, it pulls so hard and the acceleration just doesnt seem to drop off until the late 170mph figures,
so as it now had the performanc, decided the bay needed a bit of a spruce up, as you can see in the first lot of pictures the engine bay was a mixture of white and balck paint and loads of boring engine looking bits,
so, on went the chrome rocker covers, carbon plug and cam belt cover, chrome tubo pipes, samco hoses (water and heater ones are still in the post, abbey oil breather tank, and a few other bits and pieces,
and finaly, luke89 gave me a hand and we stripped alot of the lump down and repainted the engine bay
as you can see from the these picis it was in pretty shity condition, most skyline bays are tbh, not sure why nissan didtn do them the same colour as the car from the factory.?
pipes of
as you can see, generally not very nice
every thing masked up, stripped down and primered and in first coat of matt black
finished articel, now starts the reassembly
after about an hour
nice shiney brether tank and fuse box cover fitted
whole bay shot, showin new slam pannel aswell
just waiting on the water and breather hoses now, and the oil coler and remote filter kit
now for the sexy spoiler blade ande end caps picture lol
and for the proof to back up the power,
courtisey of surrey rolling road
510.4 bhp at 1.4 bar
not bad for bolt on mods,
next on the engine list is cams, then once the standard engine gets tired, a 2.8 stroker kit,
also, cant rate the coilovers highly enough, just need a nice k sprt 8 pot front caliper conversion,
big shout to horsham developments for the mapping and turbo ( garret gt2860 rs just incadse your interested lol, 2 of them) fitting, abbey for the tank and knight racer for all the looooovely carbon bits,

Cant see why you would want a Cossie over that tbh, hes probably only spent a few grand and look, 500 ponies and handling to suit!
I like that alot mate, nice and stealth under the engine bay, i didnt realise you could get that much power just off bolt ons too, fair play

could go cams and a wee bit more boost on stock head and bottom end,
but tbh,
i think this is a far as the stock set will be taken here ans the car is used rugularly,
old mans on the hunt for another engine to have strooked
cheers Shorty kinda wanted black silicon hoses but they were 2 month wait, so got blue, and going to continue the chorme/polished and corbon fibre look where ever possible,
strut brace is cumming of to be chromed soon

ill get some more picis up of the rest of the carbon tommrow, added door sill, new interior gauges, and boot trim as well now
cheers for looking

after an interesting incident with the stoppers,
its been decided that a brake upgrade is deffo needed,
so ordered up a set of k sport, billet 8 piston calipers and either 356 or 380 mm discs and bells (still waiting for them to get back to me, )
and ordered some silicon piping to plumb in the breather set up
also been eyeing up a greedy inlet plenum, not sur eon the benifits, perhaps starvos could comment ???
cheers for looking

well, its there to consider,
gets a bit dear to go any further though, as will need new turbos, gear box, clutch ect all over again, including the 8 ish grand for the rb30,
tbh, after the cams and maybe a freshen up on the current engine, i doubt the engine will be taken any further
cheers for the comments

DEYTUKURJERBS
Hate to tell you this mate, but apart from some non-black skylines that had BLACK enginebays, all enginebays were painted the correct colour.
So your dads or whoevers this is should be black or body colour, DEFFO not white, thats for bloody sure.
2.8 conversion is pointless and expensive too, RB30 all the way.
Dont bother with a different plenumn unless its either the Nismo one (even then, minimal difference) or he going crazy power and changing to a single throttle.
Not really sure if I agree with that big wide road comment. Although its bigger than a R32, R32s are still about the size of a Sierra, but wider, so no B-road blaster anyhow.

cheers for the info,
i couldnt work out how the engine back was black and white
had a scout around the car and cant find any signs or it having been a different colour previosly
but i do no it had a different engine in it before we bought it,
cheers for the advice starvos.

where abouts you from mate?
the car spends alot of time in kignston and bout it miles away (cant remember where from now )
been out for a bit of a play today, must have been mapped in hot weather as the boost seems to be creeping up a little, previouse max boost seen was 1.41bar,
saw 1.49 on the acvr today, not a prob though, its on the self learning mode through the gears.
also does any one no out about the ssqv hks dump valves, its got two plumb in (tuner fitted them) and there dumping to atmosphere (got the standard silver disc in at the moment) but fuck me there loud, dont think it helps that there pionting straight towards the air vent in the front bumper lol,
my question is, do these valves partially re circ as theyve got 2 pipes on them, one from the boost pipe, and another which is just blocked for now (our car had all the recirc pipes removed at some piont.
also, does any body have any info on the different coloured discs and what sounds they produce, cheers

time for an update,
as some of you may know, i changed the front splitter around 6 months ago, after the first one came into contact with a kurb.
so any way, fitted that one, went on ok, was very very strong, being 4 layer carbon, and had lots of vents in it.
problem was, it was a good inch lower than the original which ment it caught on every thing, got to the piont were the carbon was fine, but all the laquer had cracked, so pulled it off lol
the bumper on skylines is just a plastic skin with an impact bar behind, meaning there is no strength in them, so upon removing the offending splitter, it became apparent that the splitter had no damage and that all the mountings had snapped and been rpped of the bumper.
so off that came to
to leave me with this,
so the car was deffinalty white when it left the factory lool
and its also had larger n1 ducts fitted to the bumper, hence the horrid bodge to the impact panel.
so in the quest off minty ness
then a quick matt black
miles better
some tiny japanese cock some where decided that it would be a brilliant idea to tottlay fill the only air inlet to the radiator with horns (only one of which comes wired as standard )
so i found a new hiding place for them
more air
you would not believe the ball ache i had trying to get some more of these clips
in the end used m6 bolts and washers and nuts, sruggled like mad loool
seeing as all the rest of the pipes had been replaced with samcos (got the water and breater ones on order/ 6 weeks
decided to change the hidden pipes to, this was a requirment, as one of them collapsed on a top speed run (on lift off it vacumed so hard it popped of the intercooler) lool, at 174 mph
even the holdman got his hands dirty and helped out
shows the brake ducts and twin dump valves
new splitter and bumper back on, its a jun style splitter, in carbon fibre
bit of fancy photography
also got new light weigh racing wheel nuts, (20 grams each)
need to get some centre caps and a big brake kit now,
car is currently backat horsham developments getting a 30 row oil cooler and remoter filter piont fitted
also got this, stripped down and painted samco blue
cheers for looking people
