Hi, I'm a newbie to this forum and just wanted to know if any of you guys / girls can help.

My dad and I have a mk2 escort rally car and we are about to put a fresh engine in but we are also wanting to change the box.

My dad has two boxes acquired over the years, one came out of a rotten RS2000 which the guy said had a 5 speed box from a Sierra in. My dad does not know much about the other box but thinks it is a 4 speed.

Is there any way to tell from looking at the box what we have? They both look the same but they do have codes them. The one that my dad think is 5 speed has 80240 and 71WG 7006 stamped on it.

The 5-Speed box is longer than a 4-speed as there is a extra cog in there (5th gear)
