Thanks for the positive relplies
I really need the car out of the garage to continue with the headers and it's too damn cold at the moment!
Any tips on TIG welding stainless tube ?
I know about purging the inside with argon but have not much of an idea when it comes to the welding side
Cheers

I was going to machine a carb intake for fuel injection but have since sold it and bought myself this for Christmas
It is worth 80 ft lbs over a Victor Junior carb intake at 2500 rpm!
It is very tall
But just squeezes under the bonnet
I'm well pleased, the Ford Racing valve covers I have will not fit with this though but it's not too big a problem.
Thanks for looking

top work mark, i do remember seeing you putting the stuff together for the 4wd setup a few years ago
you install looks really professional, mines positively heath robinson in comparison lol
fancy making me one of those crossmembers? i recon if i had that i'd be able to get away with off the shelf headers. i had to space my arb to clear the t5 bellhousing too, i did go with comp struts and regualr koni's but it was crap in the end... plus i lost confidence in them when one broke as i was pulling off the drive! thank fudge i wasn't doing 100mph down the m1!!!

I don't fancy having to make another crossmember to be honest ! It was quite time consuming.
Do you have to remove the steering linkage to get the drivers side header off yours ?
I've been out in the garage today scratching my head and trying to figure out how to get the four pipes past the steering and away from the starter motor, it's going to be tight.

Part of the Furniture
i fitted a 351 cleveland, the easy way,
Cut the whole front off
with the bonnet shut , you'd never know
i made brackets and fitted the anti roll bar at the front, works great

Tiny update.
I have spaced up the rear of the gearbox 6mm and made some new spacers for the prop centre bearing to get it all in line, no pics of those bits
Bought an adjustable gear shift lever and Ford Racing gear knob.
None of the plastics are screwed down but with the cranked gear lever it does not show that the T56 shifer location is further fowards.
Also made a start on the headers.
Started with the difficult side first as the steering is in the way, it has taken me much longer than I would have liked as I keep getting frustrated with it and walking away

Your best bet would be to use the Cosworth T5, it will save you the expense and aggro of making cross member and propshaft, also the gear lever would be in the correct place.
You can get the correct bell housing and clutch from real steel.
I used the T56 because it was cheap and I'm a tight arse

One side almost completely mocked up
At the moment only one pipe has been Tig welded at work, all the rest are tacked with my 20 year old mig and it's getting cranky
I'm now getting very tempted by the thought of a TIG for home.
Got some stainless header flanges and gaskets from the US for a very good price but they are heavy.
Flange on the left is how they came, 13mm thick and bigger all round than the gaskets. I have modded the right hand one by machining the outside profile to match the gasket, thinning it down to 10mm and stepping it another 2.5mm.
No idea what grade of stainless they are, but it is a C**t to machine
