Bit of an update
I've been stuck on a four day week because work is not good and have spent a few days machining sump adaptor in the spare time.
Suprisingly it was too big to fit on our Mazak machining centre and was easier to do on the little bridgeport cnc.
No Cad Cam involved just done the hard way
Crap phone pic of aluminium billet
Work started on engine side of the adaptor
I'm saving the lump from the middle to make other parts from
Sump adaptor has now been turned over to machine the other side including clearance for 2.9 starter motor.
Tried on engine block
Plenty more machining and a fair bit of welding to do but it is starting to take shape
Work is still really quiet and I've got the offer of a slightly better paying more secure job that would not allow any more work on the side, I like it where I am but a 4 day week keeps me skint (real tears of indecision)

performer rpm inlet
750cfm throttle body
I've got a roller cam block and it would be nice to have a hot roller cam as long as my heads can take it.
chrome molly push rods.
Steel con rods
Decent high comp pistons
1 5/8 " headers
Distributor-less ignition with coil packs.
Probably Emerald management unless I'm skint then it might be MS.
Very tempting to go for more power but I don't have the cash for uprated gearboxes.

Hi
I wish to start a similar project on my Sierra Sapphire but keep it RWD not 4WD.
Can i use the T5 Cossie 2WD G`Box with a 302 EFI from a Mustang?
Will the G`box fit or will i need to do an adaptor plate ?
Or is there a company that produces bellhousings ?
Thanks

These people sell the bellhousing you will need to fit the cossie T5 to a 302.

I have modified a Cosworth cross member to take early mustang engine mounts
Pic of it half way done
Engine mocked up
cross member just about finished
T56 mounted

I don't earn as much money now due to job change, so decided to sell up and do something cheaper and simpler.
5 door 6 speed V8 Sierra sleeper should be fun
Especially with the latest addition to my goody pile
Brand new stroker crank gives an extra 400cc, now going to be 5431cc
Forged steel rods and forged pistons on order.

I got a brand new T56 from a guy on Ebay
Wrong bellhousing for my engine though and it is over $500 for the correct ali one to suit my engine
Plan B was to buy a TKO 600 bellhousing for my engineand modify it to fit the T56, pic shows how much longer it is.
Out with the precision marking guage
After a session with an angle grinder and stone cutting disc it's a bit nearer the length I need.
I skimmed it flat on a mill and had a bit of 1/2" ali welded to it, re-skimmed it and borrowed the CNC machining centre where I used to work.
Only problem is the clutch release arm cut outs do not match on the box and bellhousing and I will probably have to find a centre push release bearing to suit.
One piece prop is also too short to use and I will have to get a custom two piece cossie T56 hybrid made.

g code sucks! amazing work tho

CAD CAM is cheating
I did all the drawings using AutoCad in 2D but now tend to use Solidworks as I have it at work.

Ps, if you are having problems with the ARB clearence just ditch it and bolt on some compression struts instead. Far better control of those silly single mount point sierra bottom arms.

I have SW08 with all the FEA and fluid dynamics bits too. Like you, im learning as i go. I get alot of help from one of my mates who is a SW proffesional. We have designed a MOTO2 bike together on it. Just got to get round to making it now. lol

Comp struts. You could prob make them for Ł25 if you had the time.

From past experience i've found avo coil overs always come far to hard sprung to begin with anyway. Mind you none of the sierras ive fitted them to have had a dirty great big yank v8 up front!
On my mates car we run comp struts, light springs and burtons do a kit for mounting another roll bar up front.

Anti roll bar touches the bellhousing when the car is on its wheels
I will have to make up a couple of spacers to drop the ARB out of the way.
On the plus side the postman has been this week
Nice new shiney set of forged pistons
A new set of these forged steel rods
Shortened and reconditioned prop with new end to fit T56 gearbox.
Looking at the prop angles the gearbox needs to come up a bit at the rear which will mean a bit more fettling of the transmission tunnel at a later date.

Tiny update.
I tried to cut corners by ordering a set of Flowtech headers from Real Steel
They were very badly made and the ports were up to 1/4" out of alignment with the ports in my Edelbrock heads so I sent them back.
I had these water jet cut form 10mm stainless
I made up a tool to get 1 5/8" tube from round to square
Initial mock up with no welding
After I had a go at Tig welding the stubs in they bent like bananas
So I spent some time getting them straight in a vice and then skimmed them on a milling machine leaving an upstand around the ports to help get a good seal.
These bits are from the US
The little triangle bits help to smooth the flow into the collectors.
Because the clearance is so tight on the bolts I turned down some cap head screws on a lathe to help.
A box of goodies from OJZ engineering
I'm a real novice when it comes to Tig welding but Ill have to learn on the job.
New EFI intake showed up today as well 8-)
