well I have not done an update for a good few days and to be honest I have lost interest a little, I bought another run about and had to spend some time on that and also have been very busy with work etc. Managed to kick my arese into gear a little this week though, I managed to paint and fit the solid brake lines and flexis on the back of the car, re grease paint and fit the rear callipers and handbrake cable and fit the rear propshaft, also finally almost 6 weeks I think since I sent my inlet manifold away I was able to pick it up today finished, I was tempted to fit it but it really will benefit from powder coating so I will have to wait a bit longer.

calliper with a slightly sorry looking disk that i should have cleaned

new one again

little bit more done today, I spent the morning running round looking for brake pipe fittings but to no avail, I have now ordered some, next was to get prices for all the fittings for the fuel system, this ended in 2 hours nattering and a backon and egg bap at my local rally spares place http://www.sorensenroadsport.co.uk/ , i then came home fitted the driveshafts, did some touching up on some of the paintwork then dropped my inlet manifold off for powder coating. Came home and then started cleaning the exhaust system, pics tomorrow.

Well another not very productive week, the inlet manifold is still at the powder coaters and the parts to finish the brake lines still have not turned up. On a more positive note I have now ordered all the goodridge hose and fittings to allow me to finish the fuel system, hopefully by next weekend I will have the inlet manifold, fuel system parts and brake parts and be in a position to almost get the car finished. This weeks work has been quite basic, consisting of putting the headlights back in, after fixing one of them that had the ball joint clip inside broken allowing the lens to flop about all over the place when driving. Then it was time to get the boot back into shape, I painted all the exposed welds and metal, wax oiled it as this is not an area that i will be looking at very often, I then got all the side carpets back in along with rear strut brace.

the wiring needs some tidying here, this is from changing the plug to the rear lights as i have in the past suffered with wonderfull ford shit connector issues

same on this side

and now all the mess hidden

well I feel enthused as I had a good day on the car today, I ran the brake line from front to rear, im still waiting on a new t piece and connector but the pipe is there. I also ran the fuel return ready to connect up to my regulator, I got the wiring connected up to the pump as well. Round at the front of the car it was a story of tinkering with bits and bobs, I finished off all the water hoses and filled her up with water, then fixed all the leaks . Then just fiddled about tidying up bits and bobs. Next is hopefully get the brake lines finished during the week and get the inlet fitted then next weekend I should be able to finish the fuel lines and start thinking about getting ready for MOT.

these are yet to be connected

all done except for goodridge hose and fittings to link the pump and filter

and various bits sorted around the engine bay

tiny bit more work tonight, came home after a shit day to find a little parcel which I hoped would be my brake pipe t piece and fittings, and it was unfortunately the usesless gits had send me metric fittings and an imperial t piece , so thats still not done. After that i made a template for the bracket to hold my FPR, then took my strut brace off where the bracket is going to be fixed then dropped the template and strut brace off to a friend to be made and weleded on tomorrow . More updates soon hopefully.

little bit more tonight, I bought the fittings etc secondhand to go from the fuel pump to the filter, they arrived today although i missed the delivery so I collected them this evening, i stripped it all down and replaced the pipe with a new length just to be safe.

then got this all fitted up to the pump and filter, just waiting on the rest of the pipework which is due on friday

I then collected my strut brace that had a bracket welded on for the fpr, you can also see the bracket for my map sensors next to the fpr one

fpr

then to drill the bracket and get it all fitted back to the car

also checked on my inlet manifold but it still isnt powder coated

Another poor day today for the possible completion of the car I went to collect my fuel hose and fittings and it has not arrived, rang about the plenum and its not done, went home and the brake t piece still isnt here, the only plus is the bright 6 warning module that i ordered has arrived, I also managed to get some rear anti roll bar drop links.

Drop links

Bright 6 warning module

some connectors to do the dash

Fitted

Plug fitted

very annoyed that the other bits have not turned up, im going to get anything else I can finished over the weekend hopefully making it ready to run as soon as the fuel pipe and inlet manifold turn up.

well after almost a 10 week wait I finally have my small turbo escos inlet manifold ported and powdercoated, I collected it this morning and have spent the best part of today fitting it and doing other little jobs on the car, unfortunately the goodridge hose and fittings for my fuel line still have not arrived.

freshly powdercoated inlet manifold plenum and spacer

and fitted to the car

I actually got slightly further and got the TB fitted etc but didnt take any pics yet

More work done over the last few days, I have removed the downpipe to have a second lambda boss welded in and alos removed the fuel rail to have a boss for the pressure sender welded in, next on the list was fit the loom extension just received from Ryan to extend from the dizzy to the new cam sensor and also from the old act sensor to the new position. Next job was take the dizzy out ready for my oil pump drive. After this work all thats left engine wise requires parts that im waiting for. The dash is now fully fitted and working inc the speedo that i have bracketed off the abs sensor onto the back of one of the bell bolts.

Next on the list was fit my adjustable track control arms and compression struts.

only bad thing about fitting them is it reminds me that all the front arches etc need to be cleaned and painted

Little parts update, I picked up the goodridge hose and fittings for the fuel system today, unfortunately minus the adaptors for the fpr, I also collected my down pipe and fuel rail from having a fuel pressure sendor take off and second lambda sensor bung welded in, Thanks to my friends Domonic and Andy for getting these done for me.

Well, It only bloody runs
I spent all day saturday driving a friend to look at and then buy an Escos so didnt get any work done on shonkey. I got up nice and early on sunday morning and got my ass straight down the garage, fitted the whole exhaust system and down pipe, fitted my 2 lambda probes wide and narrow band, and my egt probe. Then it was time to route the fuel pipes from the rear up to the fuel rail then rail to reg, Unfortunately the fittings for the reg have not arrived yet so I just had to jubilee the pipes onto the tails that came with the reg, I'll do it properly as soon as the adaptors arrive.

Once that was all done I was knackered lol. Anyway stuck the battery in built fuel pressure fixed leaks and started it. all sweet.

then I drove it to within the range of the hose and washed it for the first time in 6 months.

Dash fully finished, poor pic though

Finally a pic of a few visitors I had yesterday

Well it PASSED, what a relief, I hate mots but the tester was highly complementary of the car and even said he likes moting stuff like it, got it all taxed, stuck some fuel in and have been for a short shake down drive, my fuel pressure regulator does not seem to be rising 1:1 with boost so I have backed the boost completely off and ordered an aeromotive regulator that will hopefully be here pretty soon as I fully intend to have the car at the Cornwall RSOC show and as many as possibly after that. I would like to say a BIG thanks to everyone that has commented on my work over the last 6 months, your praise and positive comments have helped to get me to this stage. I suspect updates will be slow for the next few months as I plan to just enjoy the car, however on next winters list is already restore the rest of the underside, change the gearbox to a mullit, full respray, gt35 front housing on my T4 and more bits and bobs in the engine bay.

Well in true ford rs fassion the car has been on the road 1 1/2 days and its broken already . I took a trip to my friend andys house to look at all the nice new wiring goodies he has had delivered and to show him the car, pulled into his drive got out and noticed steam coming from the bonnet vent nearest the turbo, opened it up and initially just though ah its some rain evaporation, that thought lasted for 10seconds when i started wondering why the rain was blue and then why the blue rain was running out from under the car, closer inspection it was running off the bottom pulley, I thought it was the fooking water pump but luckily the altenator belt had worn through the pipe running fron the pump to the pipe along the bottom of the rad, we then removed my pipe and andys pipe fitted his to my car and I was off, his pipe was a much better fit and a totaly different shape, much better fit. On the very positive side another friend Paul had been ordering hoses for his escos and I asked him to get me this very hose as mine was not silicon, just rubber, the hose was hand delivered by him yesterday, and RESULT its the same as the one I borrowed from Andy. So tomorrows job swap the hoses.
