I dont think nash was saying that a new garrett one is crap, can one of you explain how such a simple item as an actuator can be crap anyway? whats wrong with the collins ones other than your opinions on there looks?

Thankyou

Right very small update, received my thermostat housing back with a nice -8 fitting welded to it,

unfortunately as you may be able to see it was only a few weeks ago this was freshly powder coated so it has to go back again theres a lot to be said for planning still, because it has to go back and also because i noticed that my powder coater has slightly changed the colour of there silver and i wanted to get my small turbo plenum cover done it would not have mached the other half of the manifold so I have sent my spare manifold to be ported to match the gasket, same as the head does, my guy is also going to clean up and round off all the trumpets etc.

pretty crappy as standard. Now its a waiting game yet again for this to be done, also for my cam and cam cover from Martoon.

Right, as it is now a waiting game for my inlet manifold to be matched to the gasket then powdercoated plus the bits from Martin I decided to start on the rear end, I was hoping to wait till the front was back together before starting the back but as it is going to be a good few weeks before the bits are all done for the front I though bugger it.

Here are a few pics showing the progress so far and what needs to be repaired etc.

All in all I was quite happy with what I saw, there are a few bits that will require some time from me and the MIG but all in all its not to bad and theres nothing structural. As you can see the beam is all off and tomorrows job is to get it stripped and taken somewhere I can work on it as my garage is quite full up

My next question is what colour shall I paint everything, any ideas and pics of other moonstone undersides welcome.

Well the beam is now out from under the car and stripped into its component parts, I have also transported it to a friends house who has more room than me so I can get it cleaned up and painted,

that now leaves me with the floor to get cleaned and get any welding done, Im starting this tomorrow

I have also removed my clocks as my stack 52mm gauges have finally arrived, I only ordered them at christmas!!

Boost and fuel gauge

Wideband AFR

So on the rainy dark evenings I will be in making my dash.

Right another quick update, after collecting the dremel of Rich and lending him my topmounts I came back home to start on the dash, and here is the template all made up except for the bright six that I have yet to purchase, once this lot is fitted I will have 4 Stack instruments and 4 SPA instruments, Im thinking perhaps I should have bought an all in one dash of some type

Stack gauges

with SPA speedo

hopefully I will be able to transfer my template onto a better backing material tomorrow

Looks good mate

How about fitting the speedo into the clock surround(dash dimmer slot maybe) and leave the dash symetrical

the dash will be relitively semetrical once the bright 6 is on the other side, also im so short I cant see the dimmer switch when sat in the car best solution would be to get a stack st700, maybe you could buy one for me?

well I have spent 2 evening cleaning the bottom of the car, what fun, I have found a bit of rot that needs sorting, luckily the rails are spot on as is the floor, its gone at the rear of one of the sills and on the rear corner of the pasengers side inner arch as you can see from the pics.

rear arch

and the boot floor on the edge

and the ok bits

more fun to come later in the week.

spent this aftenoon doing some more work, firstly I went to Riche's and collected my cam cover and cam that Rich kindly collected from Martoons we also removed his gearbox, I then went to my local rally spares place and collected some more aeroquip then came home finished my clocks and spent more time on the bottom of the car,

dashboard made except for the bright six that I have not received yet

fitted in the car

Bottom of the car cleaned, wire brushed and rust killer/neutraliser painted on

tomorrows task is a little bit of welding!

well I got most of the welding done last weekend, went away for the week and came back today so after assisting Rich with a few bits I came home and got straight back on with the car, got about 1/3 of the underside in primer before I lost the light, hopefully I will get the hole lot in primer for tomorrow and then start with topcoat on sunday.

All the primer is now done and I have started to do the colour on some of the edges, next is to seam seal all the stuff I have diturbed and then colour then lacker it all, Quick cup of coffee whilst it dries and then im back out to do the seam seal, hopefully it will all be a nice shiny silver by the end of today

not bad going in only 3 weeks, especially as I was not here for one of them.
