Well, I spent the best part of today cleaning up the front end to remove all the rust, then priming it seam sealing the seams priming again and then painting, unfortunately the paint that I had mixed at my local Halfords was like trying to apply paint with a hose set on jet rather than a nice mist so the finish is pretty poor, I think i will get a litre mixed up and gun it on properly, I may also do the inner wings if I decide to paint it properly.
Anyway here are some pics.
Bit of cleaning up
In red oxide etch prime
All the brackets to be blasted and stove enameled
Seam sealed
Primed
Painted badly
It still needs some waxoil protection once I have decided if im going to paint it again.

Here are a few updates, I have copied them from another thread on a different forum so they may be a bit dis jointed but you'll get the jist.
well I finally got the bits back from being welded today, next is to give them a good old bufty polish and get them back up to scratch, then carry on sorting the little bits of rust at the front and get some decent fresh paint on it, then learn how to do aeroquip pipes
-6 welded on header tank
-6 welded on swirl pot
-12s and -10 welded on breather tank
-12 welded onto fitting to go into the rocker cover
rad repaired as it had a tiny crack in the origional weld
Debadged airtech turbo cooler
Modification to the intercooler to help stop air bleeding underneath it
received all the brackets that i took off the front end back tonight, they have all been stove enameled satin black
Another little update, spent the evening bufftying the tanks,
Another little update, I love parts update's just wish I could afford more parts to make updates with
mmm beam mounts, thanks Rich

Another little update some nice new compression struts
next is to take the altenator off and cut the block so I can fit a drop bracket in preporation for something and also purchase some topmounts.

Thanks Guys, Took the turbo and altenator off this afternoon, the turbo is off up to rich's so he can deliver it to its new owner on the weekend I will cut the hoop of the block tomorrow and then once the drop bracket arrives back from being stoved along with the altenator bracket itself i'll get the altenator fitted back up.

Have done a little bit more work today, also received a few more parts,
more bits that have been stove enameled
WRC style cam trigger parts
some more aeroquip bits
and a new cam belt and tensioner from matt lewis
first job was fit the water pump pulley on
then tart the cam pulleys up to match
remove the hoop from the block to allow the drop bracket to be fitted
and fitted the drop bracket
next was to start some of the aeroquip piping for the breather tank
how it currently looks
lots still to get done

Have done a little more work on the car, inlet manifold is off to allow me to fit an oil cooler sandwitch plate and also to pull the manifold apart and fit my eeciv manifold cover and plenum spacer,
As you can see the car has no cambelt, I went to change it seeing as everything is nice and accessable at the moment, changed the belt no probs gently nipped the tensioner after setting the tension, went to tourque the nut to the specified torque and the bloody thing wouldnt go, it has been over tightened in the past so out it came, i have helicoiled it and am waiting for a new stud and nut to turn up.
I also received my new (second hand turbo) and silicon hoses to go with it, as you can see its a t4 (thanks nash)
turbo now taken apart to have the compressor housing polished

Not much Paul, pulled the cam cover off and inlet cam out and sent them to martoon for machining for my wrc style cam trigger,
Also got the cam tensioner stud hole drilled out re tapped and helicoiled and took delivery of a nice new stud and nut from GGR, also received my crank pulley and PAS pulley back from stove enameling, the turbo compressor housing is off for polishing ready for collection on friday, I'm waiting for some more aeroquip fittings to arrive for doing the oil cooler, I have stripped the inlet mainifold down and my Small turbo manifold and plenim spacer are off for powdercoating and thats about it, hopefully 2 more weeks and I will have everything i need to get it running again then i'll crack on with suspension

Right update time. 1st thing was I picked up my freshly polished turbo compressor housing
Also got my small turbo inlet manifold, i've drilled and tapped for all the sensors etc as well
next thing for it is to be sent for powder coating along with my thermostat housing again, as I have had to get a dash fitting welded to it so I can aeroquip from it to the heater.
next was to fit the turbo to manifold and then get the whole lot bolted up to the head
changed the actuator for a more bufty one
Removed the modine and fitted an oil takeoff sandwich plate
then got onto welding on brackets for my oil cooler, sorry for the pics my camera on my n95 no longer seems able to focus properly
then the cooler fitted in place
and pipework all connected
the other end
last but not least i did some more work on the breather system and connected up the last hose, I aslo trial fitted the inlet manifold to make sure everything would clear
Next is wait for my cam and cover to come back from Reyland the st manifold and thermostat to come back from the powdercoaters and get them fitted and then I can bolt everything else back together
