Spent some of today pottering about on the car, Firstly I removed my fuel rail and took it down to the local fabricators to have a boss welded on to take my Spa fuel pressure gauge sender, I left them with the rail and came home looking for things to do, Firstly I took my actuator off which was looking sorry for itself, gave it a bit of a sand and painted it black,

Before

After

then I took the C pillar covers off

sanded them down, primed them and then re painted them black,

the fuel rail was delivered back to me by one of the guys so we fitted in and it fucking leaks on the weld they did!! so off it came again hopefully to be returned tomorrow not leaking. still on the positive side it was a free job and for the few seconds it was on the gauge did work

Well my fuel rail was re done the next day, fitted and it doesnt leak so now my fuel pressure gauge is working and luckily the fuel pressure is spot on and rises 1:1 with the boost all the way to 5.8bar

My next moves are a swedish plenim as it has started to surge if I run to much boost and I know its not the engine so must be the crappy inlet manifold restricting it, buy some compression struts and get them and my tca's fitted and fit my diff strengthening plate as well as all diff and gearbox oil changes.

I also took delivery of this today

Thanks Jay , Im now on the hunt for a stack 4bar absolute boost gauge and I will then be re working my dashboard.

some more little updates.

I havnt been fully happy with my engine bay for a while and far from wanting to anti bufty it the bufty call of aeroquip has been getting louder and louder in my ears.

I already have a -12 45 degree and -12 straight as well as a -10 45 degree meaning that I only have to buy a -10 straight and a -12 45 degree and a few meters of hose to fully quip my mirror image breather tank.

I also have just purchased some -6 to go from the swirl pot to the header tank.

also bough myself an oil cooler with -12 connections on the top

and some hoses to go with it

lastly I also bought myself some anodised blue center caps for the comps, now I have a choice of silver or blue

the new stack range was release on the 1st december but there is about a 1 month lead time, they are also doing a wide band afr which I have also ordered. The 52mm gauges are available in 3 basic options capillary electric or electronic stepper motor, I bought the stepper fuel gauge but the capillary boost as I already have my spa boost gauge and no room for another sender.

Little update.

I have removed the header tank, breather tank, swirl pot, radiator intercooler and turbo cooler.

The header tank breather tank and swirl pot are havind connections welded on so I can aeroquip them, the rad is having a tiny crack welded up on one of the end tanks where the bracket joins it, the turbo cooler is having the airtech emblem ground of and the intercooler is having a bit of ally welded on pro alloy style to close up the gap between the bumper and cooler and stop air bleeding past it.

The thermostat housing has been taken off to be powdercoated silver, Im also thinking of having the tanks done but am not decided on this yet. Also I have removed the A pillar covers one with a pillar pod in it and the other std and im having them flocked. Have also started taking the dash apart as my new Stack gauges will hopefully be here soon.

Little progress update

blasted my themostat housing and dropped it of for powdercoating,

All powdercoated in bufty silver

Just waiting on all my alloy welded bits now and I will then put the front back together with some nice aeroquip then the next job is to take the rear beam off and start an underside resto at the back, but will work on the front till the tanks are ready , also hopefully my gauges will be here soon :realtears:

Have done some more work to the old shonkey mobile today, after a bit of a lay in and then painting the dining room I went out to look at why my garage was leaking again, having found it was because it was crap and had big holes between the roof and the wall I decided to get on with something on the car, having just helped my neighbour and friend strip clean de rust and paint the front of his HF4 we decided we should do something to mine today, and seeing as the rad and cooler where out we decided to start doing the same to mine as we have just done to his, we stripped the front and removed all brackets for blasting and stove enameling and all bolts so they can be substituted for stainless.

started like this

ended like this

all in all im quite happy with the condition, there are a few liitle bits but mostly a clean up and re paint will do the job

one headlight opening

the other one

little mod that i did when first fitting my RS500 style cooler I will tidy this up a bit and get it protected

the only real rust was on one of the side bumper brackets, this will be repaired but not to std as im planning on putting aerocatches in the bumper on the sides to hold it on.

hopefully by close tomorrow the grinder will have worked its magic and all the front will be nice and clean and primed up again ready for some body colour.
