Trev. Very impressed with the Thread mate. Glad I could be of assistance with the pipe. Plus thanks again for the help with the timing belt and the thermostat.

Thanks Paul.

Right I got down to some pipe changing tonight, first on the cards was remove the pipe that I borrowed and fit my new blue one.

pipe that got cut yesterday

looks nothing like the new one

Andys pipe about to be removed

All swapped

I also changed the top rad pipe as I had a pulley ware through the silicon one a few years ago, was a bit painfull cutting up a new hose though

scabby old hose

new one

all fitted

I also took the starter out as the casing was loose causing it to act like i had a flat battery, pulled the starter apart cleaned and re assembled nice and tight though not falling apart like it was, its now much better, I also changed the gearbox and transfer box oil, gearbox oil STINKS.

Well today was the cars first proper outing a trip all the way to cornwall RSOC show. And the basic update is the altenator is knackered seems to be suffering with heat and either turning off or kicking out 18v so its time for a new regulator pack and an additional heat shield. Anyway a few pics from the day only of my car though as I didnt take any others.

Well hopefully the altenator is fixed, I stripped it cleaned it and fitted a new regulator and brushes, also made myself a better heat shield out of some bloody pricey material.

Thanks mate

Well the car made it to combe and back with no issues, I had a great time the friday night camping was a proper laugh and I will be doing that again next year for sure. I had been to combe before but not for this show and I really liked it. Also made a purchase of some aerocatches for the saff. I spent today starting to fit them as well as making some new heat shields for under the bonnet. The heat shields are a work in progress and I dont yet have any pics.

Bumper before

and after

the idea being I can quickly take the bumper off to allow me to jack the car etc.

ok a few small engine bay mods, moved the plug leads to be routed under the plenum not over, shortened the inlet hose so the filter fits better and clamped the filter on, made a filter heat shield and replaced the heat resistant cloth around my brake resovoir and accumulator with some nimbus stuff. Im not all that happy with the engine bay in general so any suggestions of what people would do to improve it would be most welcome, and Stcky that does not include changing the actuator

filter shield

around the brake bits

overview of the bay as it stands

I would swap thw Mikalor clamps on the turbo hose for the jub clips on the intercooler to throttle hose as there is no pressure before the turbo but lots after it!

I wouldnt because the clamps on the turbo to intercooler hose are murray clamps not normal jubilee ones http://www.murraycorp.com/index.pl/t...eal_series.htm, I know there is no pressure in the filter the mikalors where the only thing I had handy. I dont rate then that well under pressure conditions unless you can get a size thats exact for the hose you want if you see what i mean

Looks spot on as it is mate, you already know the 2 things i would change.

I think the Aero catched front bumper might become a Cake Motorsport feature.

Well its been a good bit of time since I last posted on here and since I did the car has broken again, yet another engine problem, it broke a few months ago but I have been busy with another toy so have not done much with it. It's suffering with a knocking noise so starting tomorrow shonkey is getting moved to a better location to work on him and I'm going to be pulling the engine out again! (with the help of a few friends) So watch this space for what bottom end devistation I'm going to find. Hopefully it will be minimal and if so I have further plans to keep on my upgrades and mods , if its more that a bit of damage watch this space for some cossie bits for sale

Well, the engine is out and the damage has been assesed, as I suspected I have spun a shell on number 3 big end. Damage is a crank grind, luckily its not bent a new rod, and then just a set of shells, I'm also going to do an oil pump and rings and give the block a hone, so hopefully a month or two and i'll be all done except for a turbo.

If anyone has a spare conrod laying about please let me know.
