well i thought i would write a little report on pembrey
the car drove there and back with no issues, and did about 140-160 miles on track
the car run really well, it was my first time there so took it a bit easy at the begining so i could learn the lines, the tires were not 100% as the previous track day at bedford destroyed them
but still handled really well, there was a issue breaking from 110+ where the rear was going really little and wanting to step out out so a for a few sessions i was reducing breaking to the rear, until i finally got it balanced
the breaks were fantastic as ever, though ui have put my brake servo back on as the pivot point needs adjusting on my bias box, though if i'm honest i prefer the servo as it's easier..lol
i had forgotten to put a breather tank on, so half way through the day i put a plastic bottle on, did a session and popped the bonnet to find oil everywhere
then realised it must have been pressuring up and blowing out, as i had also forgotten to put a jubilee clip on a breather pipe
removed the bottle completely, problem solved. putting holes in the bottle would have sorted but decied to just remove it.
the bonnet is now pefect, slight wobble but nothing to worry about, so really happy with my last minute Fibre glassing
lucky for my i took a spay passenger side wheel with a worn r888 on , i used this for a the last 2 hours of the day, as the N/S/F was dead
so a new set of r888's is needed
the new rear anti roll bar seemed to be doing its job and helped the car handle much better
water temp all day never went on 80 while on track, which i though was brilliant
oil temp peaked at about 117 when i was really on it, so all fine there too
think thats it really, no drama's
and finally here is a little vid that was taken from the banking, thats flat in 4th breaking for a 80'ish MPH corner
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-170yep9tg
p.s. yeah i know i spelt it wrong...lol

well, did a little bit on the car today, was going to do Bro's car but couldnt get the nuts off the drive shafts
so spent almost an hours getting all the flies off the front of the car from Pembrey :O
also fitted a new grille, i'm not a fan of this type, but it's growing on me
some BEFORE and AFTER fly cleaning..lol

Well, long day today,
me and paul set off around 7am to drive to Sandy's in cornwall for it's mappin session
only to find on route the new wheels that i had fitted last week, made the car shake at 80+
lucky enough there was a tyre place in cornwall right where we were going and they sorted the for me
the had some food and a cuppa, the sandy turned up and as the Rolling road was in use we took a drive to Colin's
had a good chat with him, and worked planned already..lol
first job he will be doing for me is make my front suspension bodie's shorted so i can run the car lower (without bottoming out)
afte the great chat's we popped back to the RR and sandy started to do his magic
after a little bit i started to see smoke coming from behind the engine, no signs of oil or fluids?
then after a few more (load) runs sandy hands paul my big gromit, from where the loom entered the body
the extreme heat from being under load melted it :O AND has started to melt the seam sealler from my bulkhead mod
all from the lack of air flow i think, as i have never had an issue before
that was all that had a fault, which i was really pleased with
so a after sandy finished he came back with my ATW figure of 166 and a est of 190-195 ATF
consifering i never fitted any cams i was very happy with that
roll on Combe 4th of July
thanks again sandy, really appreciate you answering all my questions..lol and a great job you did on the car

i was never expecting it to blow my mind, NA never does that
but it does feel smoother and pull slightly harder
paul was in the car and it felt quicker, i seemed to notice it more when paul was out (no offence paul..lol )
so maybe i'll take my passenger seat out now

so whats the total budget to date on this steve?
just interested on the total spend vs power
obviously you've done alot of stuff to make it into a proper sorted track car, but just wondered

mine will be quicker then,
my brakes are VERY good, and handling is very good, and now i have the edge on power and i can always put the power down.
the 182's will spin a wheel (like lee 21 turbo did pre diff)
and the handling will be ok, but not are firm as mine
oh and remember my car is light

this is something i been thinking about.. why are 205s SO good at stopping from high speed?! WAY better than RS turbos etc as they just seem to lock wheels ETC.
a guy was chasing me round track in a stripped out 3dr with Massive APs on the front of it, (warleydaddys old one off here)
there is NO way he could go as hard on the brakes as my standard gti-6 brakes lol.. he did try.. the result was two MASSIVE black lines leading off the track into the grass (no abs on that one then! lol)

Good figures for a nigh on stock engine Steve.
Your really need some proper cams in a NA engine to make it even start to feel great as they are far too smooth otherwise as you said.
The bonus for you is if you destroy an engine you have nothing more than a stock engine to source as a replacement
Just about specced my new engine so all going well that'll be finished by 2020

yeah, i really would like cams and i will gain another 10-15bhp
BUT the valve to piston at tdc is VERY close as standard and it would be a risk for me to put cams in
i meant, comparing no passeger before and after map

Will the engines not take a mild set of cams or do you want something a bit wilder ?

that was a quick car, and must have some hard suspension on it, the driver seemed very good too,
i just put a vid on you tube with my following it, and then passing on the pit straight (though he may have backed off due to cheq flag)
but yeah, good 106 that,
spec?

Managed to get some times on my phone for spiky as I was filming him,
its not the most accurate way of timing but being continuous split times give a good indication of lap times
these are from the session with the golf
1:23.30 = 1:23.30
2:45.82 = 1:22.52
4:07.18 = 1:21.36
5:29.76 = 1:22.58
8:15.87 = 2:46.11 (missed the split!!)
9:38.83 = 1:22.96
Please someone check the maths as Ive been up since 4:30 this morning and just got back from work
These times were from the last session
1:23.67 = 1:23.67
2:46.86 = 1:23.19
4:10.24 = 1:23.38
5:34.09 = 1:23.85
again need to check the maths
not sure if you had a passenger for both these sessions or not but very impressive stuff
