Sierra Track Car
OK - finally finished a few pieces to show you guys.
My new front brakes.
355mm diameter 6 pot billet calipers. The calipers are off a well known australian built sportcar with HSV connections, the disks are DBA and the rest custom made. If anyone is interested in a set they will fit 2wd cossies and can be 330, 343 or 355 mm diameter. I will also do a four pot set.
I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking.
Any a sneak preview of the next thing to come....

It has been a long time since I have updated this thread. I finally got a leave pass from the wifer to spend a couple of days on the car. I have been meaning to do this for the last year.
Paul and myself jumped in to tackle the cage.
Here are some pics. I thought the camera was OK but the flash was shit - will get some better ones soons but was so excited that something was done so wanted to show you all. It is hard to spot all the bars so will take some better ones. Also scraped all the deadening out of the car which was a total bastard. Wax and grease remover (prepsol) works well though! The brown stuff in not rust (mostly dirt, dust and deadener glue).
It is not finished yet as we have not done the second front strut bars, harness bars and seat mounts and is only tacked together at the moment. Also need to put a fair few more gussets in it.
I should probably tell you a bit more about the spec for it. Having a baby and really busy at work means buying stuff is all the work I have done on the car for a while. Car started as a 60K mile white 3 door in very good condition. Been in Aussie for last 15 years so no rust at all.
Car was so good it feels like I have rewitten the book on "How to devalue a car by spending money on it"!

You have a good one there, we had it in the family from 1990 until we took it over to Aus in 95, it was used for about a year in Adelaide then sold on at Shannons Melbourne Grand Prix auction in 96.
Bog standard when we had it with about 50 odd thousand on the clock, someone has added those wheels and clear indicators later
Nice to see the old girl still about, funny thing is I have a set of exactly the same centre locks ready to go on my current 3dr.

meant to say did you find the hidden kill switch when you stripped out the loom, that little gem stopped it being stolen in 93 when some twats tried to get it away in a carpark, they got past all the fitted security and it was only that Ł5 switch that stopped them from driving off.

thought so, it was the pinstripe that made me think it was 331, it was on it new from the factory and you dont see many 3drs with them on.

Thanks for bringing it out then. Only done the extra 10kmiles in 13 years so probably not much different - I have known the car since 1999 (owned by a guy name Frank) and owned it since 2004 so can verify miles are accurate. Interior was immaculate. Did not find the kill switch but it had an alarm put in at some stage. Where was the switch?
Thanks for all the comments and I do agree that i am a bit mad doing it to a nice clean car.
However I wanted a track car and knew that this car was straight and rust free.

Done a few more things lately - engine is almost dome too!!
Found this awesome product - it is called DupliColour Metal Cast - if you dont know you cannot colour anodise cast alluminium successfully dependant on amount of silicone in the casting. I really wanted my rocker cover to match the red that is on my aeroquip fittings. The Metal Cast is a high temp (500degF) epoxy paint in a spray can - it is a two part process - first a base coat that makes the rocker cover look like it has been freshly cast and then the top colour coat that is semi tranparent.
Check it. Have not machined the top yet.
The depth of colour is excellent and I will give it another coat - the photos do not do it justice - it looks almost candy without looking plasticy and matches the aeroquip well. They have a charcoal colour aswell I have ordered it to paint all my tanks - will keep you updated when I paint.

Made some bracketry for the fuel reg and supply t piece. Dash 8 in and out - two dash 6 in and out.
I am going to reanodise the purple - it is the only colour you can get these regs in and I will relocate the pressure transducer to the reg.
Started figuring out the twin pumps and fuel rails.
The other stupid thing that I have done is that always loved the BBS wheels that have the bolts on the outside. But the old grpa ones the bolt is on the inner of the rin. So sourced some grade 8 stainless bolts that I had to die nut the thread to the shoulder (absolute bastard) and then k-nuts on the other side. Looks better but no heads so probably should not have bothered.

Spent some time today mounting the pedal box - got this template in Autocad if anyone needs it - it is a compbrake pedal box. And a few more plates to cover things in the engine bay.
And my mates engine dyno is coming along... Need to mount an exhaust, buy some pumps and fab a cooling tower.
