I'm back. New purchase recently.

Well after almost two years away since selling my last 3dr, I have been agonising over whether I should get another cossie or not over the last few months. I have owned 7 previously. Anyway the bug was back and the way prices are rising and I though give it a few more years and I could be priced out of the Cosworth market full stop. A 3dr was out of the question as the prices have rocketed since I sold my last one, so I had to try and find a nice tidy sapphire.
Anyway here's a few pics of my new toy, the pics aren't the best but it's all I have at the moment.

cossie4i+ 10-05-2016 05:54 AM

Knowing you Lee by the time you have been doing your little bit of tidying up you could of had another 3dr with the amount you will spend lol.

Hope all goes well with whatever plans you have for the car.

Alright Steve, long time no speak, how are you keeping?
Yes you are so right you know what my makeovers are like..lol.Seriously though I'm gonna take my time with this one, not gonna cram everything in over a short period of time, I want to get to know the car a bit first. However I will be making a start on a few things during the next week or two.

You are so right, difficult to find a tidy, solid honest car these days.

Yes that describes the car perfectly Glenn, it's a fairly low mileage on it with all mots and all service history etc.You are right there the prices are getting silly, I paid a lot for this car so I need to take care of it, not that I wouldn't anyway people know me all to well what I have to get other cossies I've owned to a pretty good standard.

Yes it's a very very clean tidy car, not concourse by any means but solid.

Cheers. The 3 dr is also out of my reach now, prices are just crazy, shame I sold my last one 2 yrs ago, would be worth a mint now.

Alright James, good to hear from you. yes I'm back, it's been almost 2 yrs since I sold the 3dr. Good to be back. I have been thinking of getting another for the last few months, the prices rising so fast I thought I need to get one now before the prices go beyond my budget range.

I totally agree Len, way more than I would pay to given we know what they were worth a few years back, current owners though must be loving it.

Hi Lee,

Keeping well thanks. I moved from Kent to Somerset last April for my new job but still driving trains, freight now not passenger. Got a big place with my parents with 6.5 acres of land and a nice big garage. Converting the indoor swimming pool into a annex for my parents at the moment so no time to do any work on the cars. I have 3 toys now, I still have the 4i and 3dr but got myself a 2dr MKV Cortina just after Christmas. Slowly getting parts together for it but not actually done anything to it. I just don't have enough hours in the day to do all the things I want/ need lol.
Even when the annex is finished I still won't have time to play with the cars as I will then have to make a start on the house.
All work and no play for me for the next few years.

Steve

Can't believe how crazy cossie (and all old car) prices have gone!

Yes 3dr prices are crazy now, sapps getting expensive to, well mine was..lol. Never mind I got one now which is very tidy, so I'm happy, just gotta start putting my touches to it now and a nice makeover/tidy up hopefully.

I'm not so bad cheers mate, life has changed a fair bit the last year with my daughter coming along so got even less time to mess about with cars now!

How about you? I hope all is well? :DD:

Yeah it's basically the white car put into the blue one. When I had the problem with the engine when I was building the white one, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do but then the blue one came up so went for it as I've always wanted a crystal blue one! :DD:

It made pretty good power the other week (438 bhp at 25psi - more to come!) as I had it setup just to make sure it was safe but I'm struggling with stopping the bastard thing smoking it's balls off! :wall: Hopefully I'm on the right track now though with a couple more bits to try :DD: Still a fair few bits I'm not happy with but like you say, are they ever finished?!

Yeah mate, you gotta make it your own! What are your plans for it?

gjh 12-05-2016 02:04 PM

Looks really nice that! The saph is ageing very well IMO.

Glenn_ 12-05-2016 03:33 PM

Saffs are cool as fook.

Yes I'm good Gaz, yes your priorities change when a little one comes along, mine is 5 in a few months time, hilarious, great stuff.Enjoy it whilst you can, it passes so quickly Gaz honestly. So you still on the GT30 .76? Tony still mapping it for you? Nice power at 25 psi.
Will make the car my own for sure, I'm putting a list together and a plan of attack, work will start in a few weeks I think. I'm not doing anything to the spec, I want to get other things sorted tidied up, made better first. I will do a makeover thread once the work starts.
Good to hear from you Gaz.

Hi Lee,

I mainly drive class 59s which are loads better than 66s lol. I drive the stone trains out of Merehead and Whatley up to Acton in London. Some are 4500t give or take a few ton so interesting to drive, At least I get to see the countryside now as I cruise along at 20mph on occasions instead of 140mph.
I still have the 3dr, not used it on the road since October.
The Cortina will get built at some point with a yb of course lol.
The 4i was back on the road in December 2014 but again that is just sitting in the garage.

Glenn_ 26-05-2016 02:24 PM

Yeh ive owned mine over 10 years now. It leads a bit of a pampered life now though. Its gone from sat on a drive in all weathers to being tucked up in a big garage with carpet on the floor lol.

I use it on nice days but at the moment my 7 week old son is taking up most of my time.
