Mine's still on hydraulics, revs to 8300 rpm limiter very regularly, no dramas what so ever

Hydraulics can rev to 8300rpm but it really is a benefit to go to solids beyond 7500rpm. The problem arises because not only do you have increasing back pressure at high rpms weakening the effective valve spring pressure, but of course the hydraulic follower itself is actually exerting an opening pressure (caused by oil pressure) again weakening the effective valve spring pressure. Lastly you also have the weight of the oil filled hydraulic follower, which all has a significant negative effective on the valve train at high rpm.

That last video shows exactly the problem with RWD and big power in a cossie! Very hard to use it effectively without huge amounts of wheelspin!

how come all the foreign big power cossies sound like they splutter a lot unless they are having the life thrashed out of them...?

Bang on...! That's why I've only got around 360 maybe more in the 3dr and it's very usable......had the same years ago in a focus Rs... I was actually quicker at 330 than 411bhp.
