I have my single seater/Zetec/R1 carbs now completed and ready for a test day. I simply fitted Weber main jets instead of drilling the bike jets. It is running Megajolt with the Eddis 4 unit and seems fine. Manifold by Danst in aluminium. Can't see how to attach images.

My information is that they will be equall to a standard injection set up and without changing cams or anything will give 160bhp. I fitted them because I dont have room for the Zetec injection package without cutting chassis tubes and the Weber system is so heavy compared to R1 carbs and the alloy manifold. A set of cams should give 200 bhp.....

Ben
Is there anyway of identifying bike carbs? I have a set for my Zetec lump that I've been told are ZX9R parts, if I get some pictures up will anyone be able to identify them?
Thanks
Ben.
Thanks
Ben.

Why dont you look at Danst Engineerings web site or see him on Facebook. He will have pictures up and he certainly has drawings of all his manifolds. He made the manifold for my R1 carbs in ally and it's brilliant craftsmanship. Well worth a look and then ring him.
#24
Absolutely not. Mine runs great and although it hasnt been revved in anger, ie up to full revs I cant see me having a problem. The main jets are Weber 180, (dgv) saves having to drill the originals and of course I can buy whatever size I require to get it set up perfect.

wot sort of cost would i be looking at to ditch my injection and run bike carbs? i found a site that sells everything that u need 750+vat would this b about right or could i save a few hundred quid getting secondhand stuff
#27
Not really qualified to answer this as mine is fitted to a single seater racing car However, mine cost a lot less. Carbs, air filter and manifold were about Ł300 and the Megajolt already fitted cost me Ł120. A few bit and pieces to complete throttle cable, bracketry etc, about Ł20. I did the engineering and a friend did the electronics....
#28
sounds better than 750+vat,,, power wise would it b a power hike between 40 and 50 bhp to a std 1.8 and more if i do exhaust and cams would it squeeze around 200 bhp from a 1.8 and more than that if i use a 2.0 rs2000 engine
#29
A decent exhaust system and a set of cams will take you over 200bhp, but remember if you are going over 7000rpm, you should remove sump and fit some proper rod bolts, but they arent expensive. I would suggest the 2 litre as it has solid tappets and oil cooled pistons. You could look at Graham Blackwells site at Zetecinside for more info into tuning the motor and whats involved, a friend who has done it all.....

Im doing this conversion soon just a few questions atm ive got a 1.6 cvh efi wht woul i do with the vac hoses? One comes of the brake servo and the other goes in the inlet part just above where the brake servo goes in? Pleasee help!
#33
vac hoses.
I dont need the vac hoses on my set up, but DanST engineering who did mine offer to put a stub on the manifold for the brake servo and for the MAP sensor as well, though I have fitted a seperate tail to each inlet port on the manifold. The hose should run straight from the manifold to the servo.

Nothing really. The carbs will only feel a negative pressure when the brake pedal is pressed and this wont happen when the car is on the rolling road. The pipe will be required to be fitted unless the suction port on the inlet manifold is closed off or you will get a totally wrong reading and of course you wont be able to even road test it without the brakes working properly.

Here is my mk2 escort running zx6r carbs... i would suggest to anyone building a 2ltr on bike carbs to use 1000cc ones as mine feel a little restrictive at times...but as a starting point my mk2 kicks its arse out in 3rd in the dry off the throttle... only had it on the road 2days now but worth every penny and the stress lol...
