THE GLASS CAR 2010
Fans of Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton will get a chance to own a unique piece of artwork. The British F1 star's Mclaren MP4-25 racing car has just been painstakingly reproduced in glass by Go Glass designer Clive Sparkes. The one-off artwork has been offered to children's charity Clic Sargent to auction at a prestigous fantasy ball in November. The charity hope the piece will help raise thousands at the event, which will be held at London's Dorchester Hotel.Cash raised from the sale will help provide specialist care to children and young people with cancer. Clive took more than 100 hours to create the F1 car from a single panel of glass. The rendition weighs in at 100 kilos and measures 3.6mts long. The process to create the car included surface sandblasting and shading using airbrushing techniques. The car has already wowed audiences at the International glass exhibition Glasstec in Germany in September where it received huge amount of interest. The company also created a full size replica of World Superbike racer Carl Fogarty's Ducati 996 motorcycle a few years ago raising over £3000 for the charity. The Lewis Hamilton F1 car will be auctioned on 11 November 2010, tickets are available on the website www.fantasyball.org.uk
