your joking right ? you can boost a c1j at 20psi all day just as long as its been set up properly and not just done on a usual oh it feels quick that will do setting lol,
obviously on the revs then i wouldnt argue that but why the hell do people want rev them upto 7k is beyond me they dont need rev that high dont think mines been much over 6k tbh

Shows what you know.
Boost doesnt kill them , the fact your running x many PSI thru it and not adapted the fuelling kills it as they will lean out. You need to be looking a rejetting to get it running a correct AFR
Revs dont kill them either , mine revs its nuts off with a L+B flywheel.
There are some out there with gordini heads that rev to 9k
See them chips over there ----->
I have just pissed on them
:P

iv not said anything about 20psi on a t2 ?? or 7k plus on a t25/t2 ?? 20psi is usually done on full t25s or t28s, obviously people rev the t28s higher but am sure forged pistons are needed if you wanna take it over 7k alot of the time

i guesstimated you meant a t2/t25 my mate had a t25 r5 running 15 psi, was pathetically slow due to the fueling not being right, Ive always thought how cool a 250bhp gt28rs one would be though

oh noooo lol i really aint a fan of these looks wise, but i know they are such a capable car and maybe dare i say it a sort of modern 5 gtt ?
talking of a modern 5gtt next time you see a twingo sport 133 compare it to a 5gtt and you will see what am getting at

I think they hit the ugly tree you are right about that. But- its jap , so in theory reliable.
With a few choice mods a reliable 200bhp is achievable as well.
I test drove a 133 a couple of months back , they are a riot, just unfortuantly not that quick

lol yeah 200 is quite easy in a starlet/glanza gt id certainly look at going for more maybe 230-240
iv heard the 133 is a cracking little car only one thing for it is to drop a clio 172 engine in it and turbo it

really weird how r5's get traction compared to ANY other fwd car with the same power, lets say 240bhp
c20lets
rover t16 turbos
starlets are utter wank, even with lsd's.
Rs turbos are wank with lsd's
etc....
Was a starlet gt turbo, built it when i was 16, had 2 of them, owned plenty of shite in the past though and drove plenty too, very picky when it comes to cars now and 95% of me hates fwd
if you wanna know anything about a 4efte im only a phone call or pm away lol...
good engines but reliable safe max power is 220 on a td12/gt spec hybrid, ive been ct9 at 1 bar, hybrid at 1.3 bar, td04, etc!

haha you a rwd man now then ?
i wouldnt say they get traction to good mine is prob at about 150-160bhp atm and it can get a bit lively at times but not too bad, id imagine with another 40bhp and similar torque it will be lighting the tyres for fun lol

Ive seen alot of r5s in the past run 12's with 200-250bhp, starlets you need td05 and a lsd and r888s to get low 13's.
Starlets are alright wee cars, handle shit, go well in a straight line, td04 is a really nice easy conversion, ive run 1 bar in the past on a td04 on just fpr, skyline gtr pump, 330's, then after i run 1.2 bar (239bhp and 223ftlbs) on same spec but with apexi safc, my mates glanza was pretty much the same power at same boost but on a dastek unichip i bought him for £56.
He also ran a td04HL instead of the laggy td04l i had, his came on full boost at 3200rpm and pulled to 7500.
The glanza 4e has non turbo con rods compared to the gt 4e, also the earlier 4e with the silver cam belt cover has slightly higher comp becauuse of the head.
I DID have plans last month to get 2 starlets and build another one, td04 at 1.4 bar on a standard 4e, then td06 on a forged 5e. Just impractical though for me.
Rwd is a very rare sight where im from, everyones scared of it, everyones scared of turbos, so its all 106 gti's, saxo vtrs-vts's, and other similar non turbo shit i always have to fix. from when i was 16 i said to myself il never own a non turbo car pmsl

nice little bit of info on the glanza there
yeah its pretty common for 5s get into the 12s with not exactly huge amounts of power, am sure iv seen on here the fastest uk fwd ford is a fiesta with about 350-400bhp and thats only in the 12s iirc
i must admit i do like the 106gti think they are a great little track weapon even in n/a form they seem respond well to mods , seen a few turbo converted ones as well

What can be done to make them go round bends ? Thats a major grin factor on my five.
Interesting parts list - I have seen those for not much brass as you mention.
What are the engines like on the J plate Startlets ?
Did you bother mapping yours or get a piggy back chip ?

the j4 engines in the saxo vts and gti are shit tbh mate, you need alot of money to tune them, hence why gti and vts owners move to starlets.
The J4 engine works well with manifolds, decent exhausts and filters, then you need cams, ecu, etc, starts to get expensive, handle well though and are cheap to buy.
j plate are early fuckers, mk1 (1989-1991) or mk2 (1992 to 1994)
It should be higher comp because of the silver belt cver but of course, will have the thicker rods.
Yea i got a dastek for mine for £100 inc the plug and play field harness which was a bargain, never used it though as i broke it for spares as i wanted a cossie, so instead i turbo'd a b16 eg6 civic and bought a zx volcane? haha
i built my first gt for £2500 inc the car, td04 etc broke it for £4500
I have pics of it in my album, silver one
