does this sound like my cats gone??? blowing/ car is so slo
i currently have a 1993 xr3i 130,
the car seems very very slow,
i noticed my exhaust blowing from underneith front end of car, also a ratterling sound at low revs,
a mate suggested my cats proberly gone,
would the cat cause the car to be so so slow? also the ratterling?
i looked underneith and it does sound like it comming from there,
also would a mondeo cat fit or would i need to get proper one for car? as i heard these are expensive replacments.
anyone advize?
many thanks

i had a 1998 gti and the cat went, it sounded like an aeroplane and topped out at about 80 mph.
if i put my foot flat on the floor at about 60 it would actually lose speed.
i bought a cat and a mongoose cat back for about £500 i think.

yeah funny you say that, when i went on motorway other day i too tryed to put foot down and it went slower even started to judder the more i put my foot down ,
and it topped out at 60mph?
oh and yeah it did sound like a plane when i put my foot down sounded like a load roar, yet the car dident want to go any faster.
i thought the cat only sorted ou emisions, and dident think you would lose loads of power, and dont know what causes these break down.
strange really as since i have bought the car 2 months ago i have never thought it was as quick as my old mk3 xr3i,s i had, i thought maybe i was just imagining it but now i think its because the cat was on its way out, as it never really blew till i took it on a 100 mile run last week.
maybe this is why its always been slow.

stainless steel exhaust and a de-cat pipe is a length of exhaust pipe that fits where your cat is thus replacing itl, the cat is very restictive and also acts as a silencer you take it off it sounds a LOT BETTER TOO.
august 1992 on i think you have to have a cat on your car but you can still replace it with a de-cat if after this date, just stick a cat on for the MOT .
i have a mk5 k-reg rs2000 with a ss exhaust and de-cat and it sounds the bollocks
