I replaced them with some Yokohama tyres, and some Pro Race alloys.

A vast improvement, although thinking about it during the day I feel the car just does not deserve them. Put the old stuff back on and take it to the festival of the unexceptional next year and spend the money and modify some thing else, the st170?

Will keep looking to see what you do next, its your car to do what you want with it and have fun

I think once I begin work on the planned 2L engine, well things should start to seem a little different. First off I want to get the car to stop, steer and go around corners as it's like being at sea at the moment lol.

I'm looking forward to seeing this progress, its still a fun project.

You might want to get the tracking checked if it has done that to the original tyres save wearing out the yoko's as they are not the longest lasting tyres you can get.

17 inch tyres you should hopefully get something like a 330+mm disk underneath which will fill them out. Have a look at getting a spare upright and then look and see if you can get uprated calipers off the usual suspects, porsche, merc, some alfa's, evo's. Keep the costs down while you are able to fab up some (or if the bolt pattern is correct you might get lucky and find some bolt on's)

Just a small update, as I'm ultra busy at work at the moment, which is great as it's more money for car parts.

I also gave the grill, door bumps guards and wing mirrors a lick of paint, as I wanted to see what it would look like before I commit on getting the bumpers and bits done by a professional.

Agreed, I may of over estimated the amount of paint I needed lol but it should keep for a while, and I may use some of it for a lower lip if I choose to go that way. So far I've used one can of primer, and the same in white, top coat, so yes, a few are left lol.

I've just checked out HubNut, thanks for the heads up, I will spend some time watching them lol

I took the Carina out for a drive this morning, just to enjoy it, and despite it raining, well I enjoyed myself. It also helped to get the old mind ticking, as I need to work out my next lot of modifications for the car.I did stop and take a few photos of the car in the rain, using my rather out dated mobile phone.

Looking good. Coilovers and painted bumpers will set it off.

Not much of an update as I'm waiting on a few parts to show up, so here's some photos of my adventures today.

Well today my "ebay" headrest phone clamp arrived, it was between Ł5 and Ł6, so a bit of a bargain. I'll post up the first video I did with it in a little bit.

So here's my first video, using my old mobile phone, and the clamp did okay. I'm going to work out a way to solid mount it, to remove the slight movement it has, but for the price, it's not bad.

A little update today, I had both lower balls joints changed on my car, as one was mentioned on the MOT, so I thought, keep it balanced.

My suspension turned up, and fingers crossed on it fitting okay.

Well a little update today, I've had my coil overs fitted, and the car already feels transformed. Now I will have to get them set up correctly, and get the car lowered a little.

Enjoying this thread, Looks good. Brake fluid looks like it needs a swap and then a proper fill up in the pics.

Well I managed to spend a little time today playing with the settings on my coilovers, and I've set the front of the car a little lower to try and level the car off. The handling of the car has genuinely been transformed.I've yet to check out the camber settings on the front, which is my next objective, but also to enjoy it a little, and sort out the slight rub on the rear.

The Carina has actually been lowered about 1 1/2 inches, but I now need to roll the arches to take it down that little bit more. Here's a video I took, and yes you can hear the rub lol..

As I was in work early the other morning, I thought I would take a few quick photos of the Carina E. Doesn't she look brilliant.
