Default No longer in a Ford!

Well, they're still on the drive but not being driven

Been after a nice 850 T5 for a while, but everything that came up just wasn't right, moon miles and automatic was usually what the classifieds threw up.
Kind of gave up looking for one and settled on getting a mk1 Octavia VRS, which obviously wasn't meant to be after traveling up to see one only to find it had sold that morning
Then last weekend I was trawling through Retro Rides and this popped up.

92,000 genuine miles, full service history and is a very good spec! Best of all it was a manual, so we ended up going to pick it up Tuesday night.

Haven't got many pictures yet, it's been shocking weather here and I don't think I've actually seen the car dry since buying it

Chuffed to bits with it, even came with a quarter of a tank of fuel

Having never had anything remotely fast, this feels like a rocket ship Sounds awesome too, got to love a 5 pot!

Already ordered a filter and cat-back, then it'll be a wheel change and a hefty drop as it rides far too high! Bigger brakes too, then possibly a remap which really wakes them up apparently.

Probably not to everyone's taste, but I love it, and I love a good Q car

I think these are a tidy little car. Keep the exterior nice and simple and surprise a few people, and the good thing is, they run forever if looked after.

I don't think these are classed as "little" it dwarfs all our other cars

That's my plan mate, a set of wheels from another model and that'll be it. I'd like to paint the chrome grill but not sure if black would look too bold compared to the greyish bumper trims?

I've ordered some Gtechniq C4 to give the trim a freshen up, will get on that when the weathers nice.

Used to hate Volvos but once you've driven one, you can't help but appreciate them. Been using a S60 2.0T and really liked it, almost bought one but went for my MG ZS 180 instead. Sure it will be enjoyed mate.

I wasn't even looking for a t5, but this jumped out at me, the guy selling it completely under sold it in the advert. The car was part of a collection, and wanted for nothing, it's done 52 miles in the past 4 years, basically driving to the mot station

Forgot I even started a thread on this.

Since buying it's had a 2.5" Jetex stainless cat-back, huge Green filter and a RICA 304 map, haven't had it on the dyno yet but I'd like to think it's somewhere around 260-270bhp.
Lately it's had a complete new front end including drop links, rod ends, 40mm Apex springs, spring cup things and wishbones with poly bushes fitted plus a front upper strut brace. For a 1.7 ton car it surprised me how well it handles now! Next up is some polyurethane subframe inserts which apparently makes a lot of difference to the feel and turn in of these tanks.

I've got plans for more power this year in the shape of a 3" downpipe, an RIP kit (reverse intercooler piping", the standard intercooler is good for 300bhp but as that level I've heard a free-er flowing one helps a lot, bigger injectors and a 19T to replace the tiny 15G turbo. Should see me a little over 300bhp. I'll have to upgrade the shocks at that point I think!

Got my new wheels on earlier, they're from an S80 and are quite hard to get hold of, they're also quite rightly known as "uglys" as they look terrible on S80's! But I like them on 850's/940's etc. Tyres are 205 40 17 Parada Spec 2's..

Before..

After! I think the rears need spacing out a little though.

It does doesn't it, I think it could do with being another maybe 10mm lower but I'm very happy as it is.

Get away with spacing them out loads... Atleast 20mm
Maybe tires should have been 215's or 45's? Look alittle too Low profile?
Wheels look good though...

I like different, when I was 19/20 all my friends were in typical age stereotype cars, Golfs/Clios etc, I had a mint 3 door mk4 Escort Popular lol, now at 22 I get no end of stick for driving a Volvo, but I don't care as it wipes the floor with everything they drive

Little update too.

Weather has been pleasant today so managed to get the brakes done, using V70 caliper carriers I can now run 302mm discs instead of the weedy 280mm ones, didn't get any pictures as I always forget!
I've noticed the front offside tyre isn't holding pressure as it's gone from 38psi yesterday to about 12-13psi this morning, will get it back to the garage tomorrow to see if they can sort it. Hopefully it's just a dodgy valve or something.

Now I'm pretty happy with where it's at, I'm trying to decide what to do next, plenty of options with these!

ive not seen those wheels on an 850 they are a refreshing change from the norm.

I'd recommend a decat front pipe, mines is pretty much the same spec and it made a fair difference on mine.

Cheers guys.

Yeah a decat is certainly something I've thought about, just trying to figure out the bets way to go about it without replacing the whole downpipe.
