A friend at work has a 2007 Fiat Punto, 1.4 Automatic (one of these semi auto ones), recently when she puts it into drive it wont go into gear, intermittently. Its gradually got worse and it wont go into gear at all now, apart from the once!! When it does go in gear it doesnt automatically change the gears, you need to put it into semi auto to do it manually....

Any ideas what it could be, could it be something electric rather than the complete box itself?

Tried there and it seems common but no one really had a definitive answer!!!

iv just had the same issues with a c2 vtr it can be a number of things such as abs sensors if its a manual box that dose the clutch and gears for you it can be the clutch slipping or one of the two actuators playing up or the gearbox ecu or a issue with the wiring your mate will need to get it plugged in and get the fault codes and go from there
