mk6 1.8 escort zetec 1996 EGR Blanking?
Hi, have heard about blanking the egr on a 96 escort. but ive searched around and can only find stuff about mondeos. well i have a new manifold off the later mk6/7 and no longer have a place to plug the pipes in which go in the passenger side of the old manifold, which then theres another pipe which goes over the rocker cover. does anyone know if i can just leave it disconnected and blank up the end of the pipe they lead to a silver box at the back of the engine bay in which i assume is the egr valve?
cheers

the bit that comes from your exhaust manifold over the left of the rocker is the egr and its control valve. It will be vac operated via a pipe from the solenoid valve you describe above. a pipe will also go from the solenoid valve to the vac supply(brake servo) Its all shit, and can all go in the bin, providing no fault codes come up when it is dissconected. The best place to remove it would be at the manifold (at the bot right edge of your heatshield) cut it here and crimp it or fold it over or weld it. Note unplug it first to see if it upsets your ecu.

ok cheers mate will do. its just ive upgraded to the later manifold and cat, so i have no use for it and was just checking if it was ok to get rid of it. so i can pull i all off pretty much? the pipe that goes over the rocker looks nasty anyway.

Hi, unplugged the plug off the solenoid, car ran fine no problems, but i have also noticed there is another thing next to it with a pipe comming off the egr that leads to it. like a valcume pipe but i do not know what this box type thing is?
can i just plug up the holes on this once ive took everything else off, or do i take the solenoid off and this?
It starts off here at the EGR
then splits to 2 hoses
then it connects to the bottom of this which is in the picture above.
