Default What to look for when buying R1

My pal is going to buy/look at on in morn. its 02reg looks really clean bike from pics. has anyone any advice what to look out for as he hasn't a clue what to look for just wants it for speed

I had an older carb model 98 one great bike pulled an indicated 172 on it so not slow for 130bhp! Only thing ever went wrong on it was the gear lever return spring

They are great bikes my mate had an 06 twin pipe Rossi rep at the same time I had mine and I must admit it was a fair bit faster lol but I still loved my old 98 great bike

As with any superbike look for evidence that it has been down the road on its side. Original paintwork and uncracked bodywork is a good start. I had a 2000 model about 8 years ago but tbh fireblades are better quality I think and have gone back to one of those.(this is the one I had)

My mate has an 02 plate with 11k on the clock and is mint, I think he paid Ł2,600 for it 2 years ago.

2nd gear!!! I've stripped two of them on different bikes, if you like spending any time on the back wheel I'd advise against them. Unless you change the oil pick up so that it still supplies oil when you have it vertical...

Still like em though I've had four I think??
