Default The wheelies has started

Well I thought it was about time I tried to learn how to do wheelis

Got the latest Superbikes with a handy DVD of How to ....................

Watched it absorbed the first bit and went to the local industrial estate
Realised early on the power wheelies were a bit hit and miss so I thought Id give the clutch wheele ago

My god its so easier to do controlled clutch wheelies over the power ones

As I only started it today I didnt want to rush things but have come away and can now get the wheel airbone at will admittedly they arent super big or super long but Ill keep practising

Hopefully by the end of the summer I should be quite good

Any luck with it mate ?

I tried for ages doing power wheelies but because the blade has a smaller front wheel I think it makes it a litte harder
It does come up but its right at the end of the gear which doesnt leave much room for keeping it up and by that time your moving at quite a pace

Defo going to stick with the clutch wheelies though , you only have to be doing 10mph before hoisting it up and then you got the whole gear to keep it up

Is this the dvd that has all the yanks stunting too? Think I'll have a practice as well but I've messed about with the gearing on my R6 so power wheelies are a bit easier havent even tried clutching yet!

I dont think so mate , get the latest Superbike magazine and you get a free DVD the title of it though is called " Knee down masterclass "
But theres a couple of extra programmes called How to wheelie and how to do burnouts and stoppies

Deano- Think your right about the smaller front wheel- i got a hornet 600 and they use fireblade 16inch front wheel, and was having the same problems with power wheelies, still to give clutch wheelies a go.

Honestly mate its defo the way to go
I felt so much more confident doing it at the lower speeds and the bike comes up at a nice speed and you dont feel intimidated by the sound of the engine which is also something to consider

Well what Ive been doing is starting off in first and getting up to about 10-15 mph then pull the clutch in slightly so its slipping pulling the throttle open 2/3rds and pop the clutch out this will get the bike up nicely , I just need to practise my throttle control to keep it up for longer

Mate just start off small and slow , itll come honestly

After watching that DVD I thought Id never be able to do clutchy ones

But its soooooo easy , after a while you get a feel for it and know exactly how much throttle to feed in to get it lifted

Now go out and try it .................................................. .... just take it steady

Well let me offer some invaluable advice for people learning to wheelie

It knackers your chain and sprockets quicker

If you dont learn how to change to second in mid air you hit the limiter whacking your bollocks of the petrol tank and if your really unlucky like me you crack your top fairing and it costs you Ł313.25 to get a new one
And another Ł100 to have the one you broke repaired by Bike Medic

alright , juss thought id tell you to buy fast bikes mag ,get some vids from colin(RPM)or web ,www.rpm.eu.com,, as for your wheelies, take it easy first off,ive been at it for yonks now, knee downs sorted, standups still learning, but the bizzies will fleece yiz if they sniff yiz out,,my recipe for a nice mono is,any bike over 600,get a quiet road, you know well, snick her in 2nd,get to 45-50,ping the clutch and "skank"up she comes, this is a good way to learn the balance point without the hectic engine revs, allbeit a little faster speedwise, but a bit more relaxed, always cover your rear brake, broken lower backs are really sore, trust me,oh yea get a race size back protector too 80quid now is better than pissing through a tube 4 ever on,if you flip it,i have a knox job,R1 col.

when you get happy with mingin down the local chippy, peep the horn mid flight, its easy+very effective, pluss its one up on your mates efforts, the birds will flock to you, like flies round sh'/t,or give a bit of stylee, with a sideways glance(black visors are good for this as they hide where your really lookin,as in ahead),ps englands match, gutted,(im a scouser)we wuz robbed, throw out your swiss cheese, chocolate+fondou sets. crimbo COLIN.

Do you have to be accelerating quite hard in second when popping the clutch ? or is it a bit like first when you can go slow but whack a bit more revs on ?

ere geeza ,depends, wot u got, busas pick up about 4-6 thou revs,me r1, 5-7 thou, quite torque-ee motors+power to weight,me 1100 wing (yep you read rite) gets up 4-6 thou,(dressed too, aspencade) but the wing slams hard landings and then busts me seals, which then need to be taken off + reset(special leakproof ones),,,,me m8s 2000 spec zx9 picked up a more revy 7-9 thou, and was a bit more peaky.engine note noise helps you learn the power curve at first but i do reccomend ear plugs ,as 15 years rideing everything gives very slight tinitus,"use the torque luke","feel the force",the quitest lid ive had is my roof diversion, superb lids if the face fits, big chins dont fit in em,best boots ,daytona security evos, bit dear tho, only serious mono-ers apply, feel is the best way to learn monos, grip the tank with your knees,if you slip back in the seat ,the movement will make you excellerate on the throttle resulting in a flip,,,keep the rest of your body supple+remember to breath, lots of people hold their breath which tenses the muscles,if you think its too high move your torso forward mid mono to give you more control,+ confidence, juss take it easy ,3 yes 3 seasons of practice should see you on your way to a few decent controlled mingers, you have all the time you need,do it at your pace, cheers crimbo !!!

try it in second ,first, to get you used to the speed + landing the front at 70 ish "on private property of course",,,we wouldnt condone breaking the law you see,, pick her up bout 40 mph, little clutch flick is all thats needed, get used to that before cog swapping,,p.s. you have wheelyietis,,pluss its very contagious,,cover the back brake,,for last minute emergencies only at this stage, throttle shut off should produce enough engine braking to bring her down,.. if Mr flips gonna pay a visit,,but cover it n e ways ,it will come au-naturel l8tr to steady the bike at extreme balance point (slow-stylee)mingers..cog swapping at this stage produces a little more height with over-rev when changing gear,,can be scary+off putting juss now so take your time, man ,,,,,frosty can ming for miles in 2nd at 80-90ish,take your time,,enjoy,,dont come on here tellin of wrecked steeds and sore backs, cause Mr rush paid a visit,,......enjoy!!!! crimbo.

woops forgot to say,,pick her up in second ,,for real,,ride through first as normal slot second then pick her up ,whtch yesell,it all takes time,,happy landings!!!crimbo,,p.s. riding with one wheel in the air on a public highway is d-driving,or, not in complete control of your vehicle,or wreckless driving,a stoppie can be classed as a controlled emergencie halting of the machine,a small wheelie may be an accident due to rapid throttle response,,they have heared them all, pluss lots ride bikes too and are top guys,,they also get done for mingers,,BE CAREFULL + enjoy,,

My old exup was much easier to control clutching it up from 55 mph in second than poping it up in first on the throttle

The turbo now fitted makes wheelies a bit more unpredictable

NEARLY FLIPPED THE FUCKER TODAY

I was on the bike taking a dodgy mobile back to the shops had a big arguement with the bloke to the point where I had to threaten him .

Was not in a good mood and not giving my bike any respect

Pulled one so high and fast I defo went past vertical and only for the back brake did I manage to recover

Tried a couple more but gave up as I knew I wasnt in the mind frame for it and didnt want to fuck me or the bike

top....you saved it,,pluss was smart enough to know when not to abuse your ride,,
sh##te in a bag and give the mobile menace it next time you see him ,, only squeeze it as you hand it to him,,tee hee,,nah ,,anger and skill dont go hand in hand,,at least you get an idea of wot its like to go" light " now.little tip,,picture your day on your bike before you ride (mentally picture),think what your gonna do ,,if you dont get a good vibe mentally,,it might not be a fruitfull day for "cunning stunts",and just a fast day instead..coolio,,,crimbo.
