Day time mot's
Any one clued up I've a 610 husky and I'm just re wiring it and it's going to have a day time mot so may re move the lighting loom as it's been butchered.
From what I can see I don't need any lights at all road legal tyres and it can't be too loud? Also can you fail if you have a switch gear that controls lights but there are no lights?

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
you dont need a headlight, but if one is fitted it needs to work.same as indicaters.must have brake light and a horn.its a strange one as everyone has a diffrent opinion, but i know for a fact as i did it with one of my race bikes

yes its worth asking another garage,i got tugged by the police a few time,as it was clearly a race bike and never had any problems from the law

I had a wr450 last year and put a day time mot on it.From what i can gather if it is fitted it has to work so if you have switch gear you need fully working lights. All mine had was a brake light and horn,NO headlight tail light or indicators.

According to the Carole Nash website, this is the legal perspective :
To qualify for a daytime MOT your bike must “have neither front nor rear position lamps, or have such lamps permanently disconnected, painted over or masked.” This applies to headlamps, position lamps and indicators. The situation with stop lamps is significantly more complicated. Machines do not need to have a stop lamp fitted if they cannot exceed 25mph, were first used before 1st January 1936 or were first used before 1st April 1986 and do not exceed 50cc. Those first used before 1st April 1986 must have a stop lamp that operates from at least one brake control and those used on or after that date must have a stop lamp operated from both brakes. There is an added if not widespread complication for bikes first used from 1st April 1986 which were approved with a stop lamp activated by one control. There were very few of these and test inspectors are instructed to fail a bike only if they are certain the stop lamp was designed to be operated by both brake controls and isn’t.
Your bike must be fitted with a rear reflector and an “audible warning device”, typically an electrical horn, which must be loud enough to be heard by another road user.

Is an odd one but if a garage will give me an mot with just a horn and road legal tyres then that's cool! But I think tomorrow I'll ask the other garage in Basingstoke as well. Defo don't need any lights or reflectors as it's a day time mot only one I'm not sure on is the brake light which I was going to leave on until just bikes said if I do that I'll need all the other lights to go with it

Just bear in mind that the guy behind the counter isn't necessarily the MOT tester - I have looked up the rules, and posted what I believe to be the accurate position. A lot of people don't know what they're talking about and unless you speak to the person who signs the MOT, you MAY not be being given the correct info.
