Just passed my driving test, car insurance is utter wank, can I insure a 50cc bike & ride that on my car license?
Thanks,

Yes, it's what I do.
I've got a 49cc Honda Camino that costs £112 a year to insure. All you need is a cbt then you have a full moped license

You need a CBT, it says so on the paper part of your license

Always thought if you had a car license you didnt need one or L plates..
Dont you only have to take a cbt if you had a license after 1st feb 2001?

Yeah had a quote of 280 for a dt50.
Better than £2500 for a shitty c1! Haha.

Bit stupid really. With a car license you can drive a 500+ bhp cossie but not a 50cc 'ped

The 49cc max and restricted to 30mph. CBT and no L plates. Thats what I think it is. And I think it has to be automatic.(rev and go)

With a full license and a cbt you don't need L plates but you can ride up to a 125 on L plates. I've never heard of the automatic rule though

Nah, the rev & go is only of you go for a rev & go cbt.
Same as a automatic car licence.

Also with the 49cc I think you can carry a pillion but with cbt you can't.
Once your on two wheels you will get the bug.. Then it's time for bike test

I passed my test in 1988.... (I know I am old) there were no CBT's then!!!! Therefore I don't think I need one! is this the case? So I a presuming this is the case if you passed after a certain year!

update:
If you passed your car driving test before 1 February 2001 you don't need to complete a CBT course to ride a moped. However, the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) recommends that you do.
