Smile ZXR250

Hi, Been a long time since I posted on here!

Recently got a ZXR250 for my GF, it's in really nice semi-restored condition but pretty much unused for the last five years.

Had a few problems with sparks and fuel. There was corrosion on leads probably caused by condensation from lack of use and the carbs needed cleaning and balancing. Finding info about the carb float level settings settings has been a bit of a problem so I've had to have a guess.

Took it to have a dyno run yesterday at JT Motorcycles to confirm what I thought i.e. too rich. Wow! An AFR of 10:1. On the advice of the JT I've dropped the float levels and adjusted the pilot screws and it's now loads better with a cleaner pick-up at midrange revs. Will be re-visiting for a second run to hopefully confirm all is well.

Just nudged 20,000 rpm as I joined the motorway this afternoon on a test run!

I paid £1300 for this one but I suppose there's likely to be a bit of variation. To be honest my GF was looking at Aprilia 125s so when I did a search for 250s this popped up and was just down the road. We put a deposit on it the same day.

It's plenty rideable - I did Kirkby Lonsdale, Hawes, Leyburn and Ripon before heading home to Manchester. Although I am on the short-arse side
