Old british motorbike ( Manx norton )
After the sad loss of my dad 6 weeks ago i have put the old BSA motorbike ( that he had his accident on ) in my conservatory and got an idea of trying to buy his dream old bike , The famous Manx Norton
I have searched the net but cant find one for sale anywhere
Is there anyone on here who knows any old classic bike dealers that may assist me in my search
Cheers Paul

paul buy classic bike magazine, dunno if you know but my dad is well into his old british bikes and has 2, a concours 1948 AJS (owned since 1981) and he is currently restoring his 1966 sprite trials bike (owned since 1968)
Classic bike mag has loads of dealers in, and should help you out.
From memory the manx norton was the racing bike used by many racers in the 50's and 60's and is a nice collectors bike nowadays

you could try vintagebike.co.uk they do alot of 50s and 60 nortons think they got a few spares for the manx norton too. a good condition manx norton will be worth quite a few quid nowadays mate, you might even have to sell a 500 lol.

sorry to hear about your dad have you tried the norton owners club? my dads into the old triumphs, but a friend of his is into the nortons and he goes to club meets and stuff and apparently people turn up on these rotary nortons, cosworth nortons, commando's etc and he says that theres a few manx's in the club like the one in the picture, all be it race prepared and not road legal tho.

id imagine if you could get down to one of the meets and ask about that would maybe give you a better direction to go about getting one.

would you do me a favour and ask your dad to keep his ear to the ground or ask about for me
Most / all the manx nortons were race bikes and were never registered for the road ,
i want one to sit with my dads bike as he always wanted one buy never had enough spare cash to buy one , wish i had helped him now

My Dad was still racing one up until 4 weeks ago when he broke his leg in two racing another classic bike. The series is very competative for the Manx 500 and 350 classes. They televised some at the BSB meets lately too.
He may have to retire now he's got a steel rod from knee to ankle, so I'll let you know if he's selling up

Paul, just as a matter of potential interest have a look at this website
http://www.pushrod-performance.co.uk
This guy is an age old friend of my dads going back many many years, and he makes Norton parts as you can see.
maybe of interest may not be, just a thought.
