Default Insurance definition of "owner"

Just wondering if anyone can offer any help/advice? Bought a new Nissan micra from the dealers for the missus this week, she's insured it in her name with me as a named driver, log books in an envelope ready to be sent off in her name. We though all was good untill we looked through the new insurance paperwork and it has her down as this;

Registered keeper: proposer

Owner; proposer

Now the car is on finance in my name and I'm paying the finance, I bought the car for her but we're worried now that the insurance company may view me as the legal owner and may invalidate the insurance. Going to give them a ring in the morning as shut now but don't want to let her do the school run in the morning just in case! Bloody insurance

Only the insurance company can answer this, this may allow a different registered keeper (i.e. you) to the main driver.

Note that there is a distinct difference between the registered keeper and legal owner.

The former is just that, who is responsible for the car, while the latter is who actually owns the car, in this case you.

If the cars on finance doesn't the finance company technically own the car? I wouldn't worry to much, just because your paying doesn't mean she doesn't own it. It's a gift

This apparently is true, finally managed to speak to someone today after calling in twice and waiting for a call back. They said it's fine as long as she is the registered keeper as the finance company own the car. Always best to check these things out as u know insurance company's will try and wriggle out of anything if they can. Thanks guys for the reply's

Glad you got it sorted in the end.
To be honest most insurers don't mind if it's husband or wife.
Regards,
Dan.
