Default Classic Car Insurance - rules changed?

I tried to get a quote to insure the 3dr Cossie Replica from Footman James and after all the questions, etc they say they cant insure me as the car is too modified.

I find that hard to believe as I had my Saph insured with them and that had way more mods than this but that was over 3 years ago so maybe the rules have changed.

The car in question is a B reg 1985 3dr Cossie Replica with a 2.9 24v engine. Suspension and brakes have also been upgraded.

Who are you guys insured with as its been a few years since ive had to insure a classic.

Have the rules really changed or was that bs?

Hi,
Please feel free to give us a try for insurance if you like. We shouldn't have any problems insuring this type of vehicle.
Regards,
Dan.

I'm with Adrian Flux, decent price but not overly impressed with their service,
I won't be renewing, insurance is due for renewal in 2 weeks and despite contacting them several times I still don't have my renewal through.

Hi,

If you drop me a PM with your policy number I will chase this up for you. Renewals are sent out approximately 14 days before the renewal date.

Kind regards
Dan

I had the same, I had 3 cars including my Focus RS with flux for the last 5 years and each year the service gets shi**er. My premiums have gone up despite being a 5* candidate so I cancelled this year and got a traders policy.

Rang flux for a quote on my cossie and same story went online got a call back and put on hold for 15-20 mins. This happened 3 times and when I eventually got through the lad hadn't got a clue quoted me a silly price so went to NEEDTOINSURE and got a mega deal

Won't ever be using flux again

Dan, sent you a pm,
I had the same issues when taking the policy out if I'm honest,
I'm willing to let you have a bash at trying to sort it out but got to warn you will have to work hard.

this 3dr is slow compared to my last 2 Sierras as only running a BOA.

Think its my convictions that are the real issue here

So far the only company to quote me has been Adrian Flux so looks like they will get my money. I have had a good service from Flux in the past when i had to make a claim on my moonstone 3dr cossie years and years ago - it couldnt have gone smoother.

You can change owner online now. Sold my Leon Cupra R in August and had the "your no longer the owner" letter the next day!
Couldn't believe it!
