Has anyone had trouble here buying an agreed value policy and then a month later getting the paperwork through with an agreed value 20% less?

I pointed out what I thought was an error and they replied saying that they might reconsider if I can supply an engineers report (not the owners club valuation they were happy with before) or seek an opinion from some outfit called www.classiccarvaluations.co.uk that I've never heard of but charge a minimum of £95 for a "desktop valuation" that might or might not be acceptable.

I've suggested that this is a fundamental change and I should be allowed to cancel with a full refund becuase I'm saying so within days of them communicating this change. Am I right or will I just have to grin and bear it this year?

I've always been a supporter of Flux but this feels like sharp practice and I am REALLY pissed off with them to the point that if it isn't sorted I will never deal with them again.

Any recommendations for another insurer for a very modified car on a classic agreed value policy?

Cant really help you but what is it with engineers reports these days on car insurance? Cant put a fucking air freshener in a car without them wanting an engineers report. Besides how will an engineers report be able to value a car, surely they are better off talking to a classic car club or an auctioneer who deals with classic cars? As for other insurance companies have you tried need2insure? People were raving about them not so long ago on here, could be worth a try?

I used Flux when I first built the car, but their rates went up and I moved to Need2Insure after recommendation on here. Then at renewal time they put an enormous increase through so I went back to Flux last year.

At renewal this year I discovered that they hadn't done the agreed value at all last year, which is why I've chased them repeatedly since I renewed, and now this.

My car isn't an RS, it's an XR so I don't think the RSOC will get involved but if Flux can do this to me it could happen to their members so they should know about this

You have the right to cancel any insurance within 14 days of purchase due to distance selling/buying regulations. Surely they have broken the contract by altering it anyway? If you have any queries, you can speak to consumer direct or the insurance ombudsman for advice.

Hi,
Please feel free to PM me your details. I'd be more than happy to take a look at this agreed value issue for you so we can hopefully come to an amicable agreement.
Unfortunately some of our insurance partners won't accept owners club valuations I'm afraid. In most cases we can agree the value with just the self declaration form and photographs but in some cases independent valuations may be needed if the value requested is particularly high or it's a very unusual or specialist vehicle.
Regards,
Dan.

Dan, I'll PM you the details but the fact is that I bought an agreed value policy and was given NO indication that the value we had agreed in previous years was not going to be continued - if you listen to the call I'm quite sure you will hear the figure requested and not a hint that the quote was subject to any kind of review.

If it was to be reviewed I should have been told and the renewal not implemented till we agreed a new value.

I renewed with you a week before my renewal date so you had plenty of time to do it in advance. If it came to it, the car is still SORN, in a secure garage and I would have been happy to let the policy lapse until you could offer me your quote for the service that I required.

Instead, I had to chase for confirmation that the agreed value was in place and maybe I'm just being cynical when I note that I wasn't told about the reduction till after the 14 day cooling-off had lapsed.

I'm certain that morally and I'm confident that legally, you can't start that cooling-off period and then, only after it has expired, introduce such a fundamental change. After all, if I buy any other product or service, the vendor is onbliged to provide all that is contracted for. Imagine I'd bought a 3-piece suite from you. You can't deliver the sofa now, delay the chairs till after the cooling-off period and then say I'm only getting one instead of two!

I am EXTRAORDINARILY unhappy with your company right now.

Dan has sorted this issue for me and I now have my full Agreed Value covered again and have the paperwork to confirm it.

I've pmd him to say thanks directly and am now happy that the problem has been resolved to my satisfaction.

I wish I hadn't found it necessary to take to the web to get it sorted but fair play does still exist.

Well done to dan for sorting this,
but so they should as I'm sure they are regulated by the FCA, and would of failed to provide the service offered.

Whats it got to do with the RSOC. Its Flux insurance risk not the RSOC.
Mine had a valuation of 35k from the RSOC but Flux were only able to offer a a 30k risk valuation so thats what i got. If i crash can i ask the RSOC for the top-up .

So your trying to say that no insurance company's never try to get out of paying out?do they always pay the correct value of the car ect?i have had cars insured with Adrian flux in the past ,but over the last few years my close "friends "have had problems with then in the past, not for not declairing there twin turbos or alloys just over claiming and getting the correct price for there cars.

Hi Dan@AdrianFlux

Quick update on this. I renewed my Agreed Value insurance at an agreed price last year, then got the paperwork asking for another £15. Called to complain and got it waived.
Renewed the policy again this year, asking THREE times to confirm the price included the Agreed Value, and paid in full. Then the paperwork comes in asking for another £15. Called and got that waived AGAIN.
Then I get an email saying the pics and Agreed Value form are being sent for approval and in the meantime I'll be covered on a normal basis. That's not what I bought so I called but I'm not allowed to speak to the Agreed Value team and have no idea when they might get around to agreeing (or not) my valuation and I'm not about to go outside the 14-day cooling off period in the hope that they respond in time.
Anyway, I can't be bothered with this dance every year, so I've cancelled the renewal, await the refund and will take my business elsewhere.

Now looking for recommendations for anyone competent to cover modified cars.

Too many kids work at flux and paying 15 quid for agreed value is a joke.

just go somewhere else.

Hi,
i'm sorry to hear about the issues you've had with ourselves regarding your agreed value. I will pass your comments on to the relevant people.
It is normally our company procedure to charge £15 admin fee for our agreed value processing. Due to the massive acceleration of classic car prices over the last few years we are only able to offer the fixed value for a maximum period of 12 months I'm afraid.
I'm sorry that we have lost your business but can understand your reasons.
Regards,
Dan.

I recently paid £15 for an agreed valuation through Adrian flux , waited over a month for it to finalize then they valued the car on what i told them i had spent on it not what the car is worth to replace basically. I've had to spend decent money getting a Proper Valuation done on the car at home. In which Flux are almost £1500 out of the Estimated Valuation.
