Insurance company need proof my car isnt modified
I insured my car on the 2nd of this month, and they have only just emailed me saying £1063 has been added onto my premium as they believe its modified, as i got quotes with modifications on a long time ago so theyve assumed its modified when its 100% standard. Phoned them they are saying I need a headed letter from an approved garage to say the car isnt modified, which i think is stupid.. has anyone else had this problem?

That's dumb. Cancel and go elsewhere. If they cancel you'll have to declare it to any other insurance company in the future. It's not the first time I've heard of Elephant/Admiral doing this.
They monitor what gets put into the quotes and do exactly what they've done to you. Totally wrong IMO and especially if you've told them there are no mods done.

I had this with admiral last September, I wrote my policy number on a large piece of paper and took several pictures of the car including interior and engine bay making sure my policy number was visible in all pictures. I then sent them all in a email, a few days later I had a very apologetic email from them

This would be my first port of call, if they want proof they can send their own people!
Be weary though, them cancelling your policy will pretty much guarantee you wont get another sensible quote. Ever. So if they decline to send anyone, make sure you cancel first.

Dear, I don't think so that its fair and I even don't hear before of it. This just a foolish thing and all drama. You first take this thing into notice of main office. May be that office just creating any type of irritation for you.
Otherwise there are many companies, consult anyone of them.

Yup they're sneak fucks, they got me on something a while ago similar to that, they definately monitor the quotes you get and the info you supply, even if it's for a different car etc....
You can either cancel, or send photos, personally i would not accept that you have to go to a garage and that will cost YOU for the trouble, so unless they specifically state that they will pay for it then I'd tell them to get fucked.

the problem is you've probably declared these modifications to them when you got the quotes.
depending on where the quotes were done, if you read the terms and conditions you make a deceleration that all the information you have given is correct before getting a price.
think of it from their point of view, how many people with modifications/convictions get a quote, think "fuck that", go for another quote don't declare the mods etc, and save themselves a fortune.
