Default Rs Turbo Insurance for 19/20 y/o +

Just wondering what you guys are paying for your Rs Turbo insurance from the ages of i guess 19/20 and upwards..

Im 22, and want to ideally get an rs turbo ...but the cheapest quote i got off the web was about £2400..and thats a bit much for me lol...

Got to be some specialists ..or can i get a classic policy as a first time driver at 22 ?

How much do you pay and who with + how old are you guys ?

Thanks

Matt.

I got my ERST when I was 22, I think I was paying £980 fully comp. That was five years ago though. Insurance prices have shot up. I was lucky this year as mine only increased by about £20 where as my dad's insurance went up by £85

I think you'd be very lucky to get a good quote as your first car at 22. Even with a specialist insurer, you are still young and it is a fairly quick car and 99% will be modified in some way shape or form. Give a specialist a call and see for yourself, that is the only way to find out and probably quicker than waiting for replys on here! Try "Brentacre",I found them very good on a MK2 XR2 when I was 19 but that was 6 years ago.

I've heard it's all about where you live and that must be right as i live in an area of Leeds with only a 2.0 sierra and paying just over £4000. Im 20 and got a quote on an Erst and they wanted about £500 more

I had my first "RS" car at the age of 19
I use to pay over £250 a month to insure it!
And back then it was pay for 12 months... Non of this pay 10 months get 2 free....

Take the plunge and get the first year out the way.. After that first year of rs ownership it goes down dramatically, (thats what i found)
Im now paying less than £500 a year for a rally escort cosworth

Im with NEED TO INSURE
Ask for paul, he's very good at catering policys for RS owners

Try some classic policys. Putting my "67 cooper on a classic policy saved me over 50%. They also have a far better understanding of valuing a classic vehicle compared to some insurance companies. One i tried to insure my RS with told me they would only be prepared to pay up to scrap value because as they see it, the car is a 20+ year old ford escort.

Footman James are a great place to start. Give them a call and see what they have to offer.

Start with Adrian Flux and see what happens! Good luck! (One benefit being mid 30's,... car insurance is a bit more palatable!)

Classic policies are ok IF you fit the criteria they are looking for. Other than that it's back to the comparethemarkets of this world.
