Default Insurance and tax question

Im picking up another car tomorrow, but ive just rang the insurance tonight and they said they would send me the cover note 1st class, but i just thought how the hell am i going to tax it tomorrow to drive it home without an insurance note?

Will i have to wait for the cover note or do you think i could ask the garage im buying from to get the tax for me? if they can even do that?

the garage should be able to do it, they should have trade insurance that covers any of their cars.
