mate of mine used to have one. really nice car. they just lack power, engines got the sound, just too slow IMO. The handling though it handled superb as standard and then he put some hks coilovers on and it was as good as on rails.
thought recently about getting a high miler for under 4k and putting a tuned supra lump in

Phill2400 on here has one as a Day to Day runabout and he loves it.
I think they are excellent as well - very stylish, smooth and comfortable. Only flaw is a lack of gee gees!
Have you got any pics and what sort of price / spec if you don't mind me asking?
Si

Ive had one of the sports mate, there great cruising motors, but there gutless and they eat tyres. But if its luxury your after go for it, but dont expect it to go when you put your foot down. Also the rims are crap quality so check the rims IF you buy a second hand one, I guarantee most rims will be curbed as they stick out, even with rim protecter tyres.
Can get a grey V reg manual sport for 5K if your interested.

They are as quick as you would exspect from a 150 bhp luxury cruiser, but they aint about the speed. Same set of tyres on mine for 18 months and not even half worn you need to leave the traction control button alone!!!

There is a thread the Kim (rscossiekim?) started on this a while back, lots of useful info on there.
Sold mine about 2 months ago. I had a 99 model in Mica Blue. Very cheap to service, nothing mechanically wrong and fairly economical. Not much get up and go though. Gf's step dad has the IS300 with the gears on the steering wheel as buttons, that goes much better. The 300 is the engine needed in those cars.
A couple of pics of mine, it had a Leganna grill on when I bought it.

Insurance and Servicing were dirt cheap on mine. Servicing was around 150quid mark with most of it being labour. That was at Lexus. Insurance for me and my gf with the car valued at $34,000 fixed (around 13/14Kpounds was $510 or just over 200quid, that was fully comp.
Rear leg room is 0 and I mean 0
Rear seats do not collapse and only the centre arm rest folds down which is called a "ski hole" or something similar to enable you skis to poke through from the boot. Boot space is quite good though and unlike most cars the IS includes a 5th alloy (no 50mph dodgy wheel) and also a tool kit and first aid kit.

Heres mine................
Most reliable car ive evr owned. Had it over 18 months and cant fault it!!
Not the fastest car in the world, but then its not meant to be. Lacks the pull low down, but after 4000 rpm its not bad at all, as with most 6 cylinder cars.
Things to look out for are corroded wheels, faulty stereo's, ball joints on higher mileage cars, and leaky water pumps. If manual, check for notchy gear boxes and clutch judder. Very common on the IS200, although seen to be the norm on higher mielage cars now. Also check for tyre wear, as the geometry tends to be out on alot of them. I had a FULL alignment check and adjustments done at Lexus for around £60.

Faulty waterpump (replaced under warranty) and stereo. G/f's step dads one had the stereo pack up and was replaced by Lexus even though just outside of warranty. Tyre wear was the other major factor with mine with the outside of the tyres getting a lot of wear even though the insides and middles were fine. Mine had 75,000kms whatever that is in miles. Dirt cheap to service and as above, THE most reliable car I have owned.
