MY TRSUTY TRANSIT BROKE DOWN TODAY
My TRUSTY TRANSIT (5 Yr old)broke down today, by loosing all of its coolant, through a split hose. So i got a 12 month old VAUXHALL MOVANO to use for a day or two. WHAT A LOAD OF SH#TE, It is UTTER RUBBISH. it handles like a bag of spuds, build quality isnt there, its uncomfortable and above all its a bloody renault with a vauxhall badge on. REALLY sorry to mention the V word on here, but i gotta tell you guys. TRANSITS are the best by FAR. mine is 5 years old and has done 70k and this bloody MOVANO crap cant hold a candle to it. I would love CLARKSON to do a test on both. NO SORRY id love CLARKSON to do one of his DVD CAR DEATHS on the MOVANO!!! like firing it of the dover cliffs back to BLOODY FRANCE where it was designed. IF anyone's got a movano on here, sell it and buy a TRANNY a poper van

the movano is actualy more comfy i found to drive than the tranny
i said about reliability on em compared to a transit but the techs soon put me to shame asking when the 4 TRANSIT ENGINES get delivered for the 4 transits that are in under warranty
have to filled the movano to the top yet,,,,,,,,,,, that will show you why it does 800 miles to a tank,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, IT COSTS 95 QUID TO FILL THE BASTARD !!!!!

My van has been chipped up with Bluefin (150 ps) and leaves loads of cars for dead.

What Mr MacSharp fails to tell you is his is in a pastel colour of turquoise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The fact that mine will fit totally in the back of his is irrelevant!!
Any yes Transits do suck but they only suck plenty of air and not diesel

The original ps of my van was 125ps.
It is the TDCI engine which is the common-rail diesel similar to the Mercs.
With it being the common-rail it has much more power (torque) and is much quieter than the TDDI.
I was Advised by a proper diesel engineer to stay well away from the TDDI as they have loads of problems with them and to back that up i have recently worked at a Ford dealer who have also confirmed that they have lots of trouble and said look in the workshop just see how many that are in.
In a word mate, make sure you get the TDCI, they drive proper and you will love it.
I would give any Merc a run for his money!
My van will probably be up for sale in July as the new shape transit is going to be released, depending on what its priced at? and guess what engine ill be having?
Are you looking for a new van or second hand one, because if its a second hand one then you would like mine.
Cheers,
Clayton.

nahhh, vw transporter is what you want, it might be fwd which is a bit gay unlike the sprinter/some transits but it's a very nice vehicle. 175bhp/six speed box and all the toys you'd expect in a car, air con, electric windows etc.
jimmyboy whereabouts in cornwall you from then, i may have seen you around?

Dont tell me these bad stories about transits. I hated driving the Sprinter and most of them have been hashed and bashed. What year did the TDCI start then? I have a limited budget due to the wife wanting another Discovery as well!!!!
Mine needs to be a medium wheelbase and a medium roof as the van is to be used to transport dogs to dog shows and working events. I also need to be able to stand up in it to get changed.
I know I know I have too many requests.
Cheers for the info it is much appreciated.

I ordered mine before they had been released, and had it in October 2002 (52 reg)
They are still quite rare on the second hand market but if you keep looking you will find one.
I would imagine that you would be looking at 6k to 8k.
Mine is FWD but some are RWD.
The RWD has a higher floor in the rear for the prop shaft.
I would prefer the FWD for the driving and the lower loading option.
Drove a RWD TDCI LWB when mine was in for service and didn't like it
one bit, all it wanted to do was snake up the road, no weight on back and it just spins!
Hope this helps.
P.S forgot to tell you about the Bluefin. Took this off my first Focus RS and had it re-programmed for Ł100.00

Nearly 300lb ft through the rear wheels.
I personally don't like the fwd Transits. They seem like they need a lot higher maintenance than the rwd version. This is based on the several hundred Transits that pass through our workshop.
