Brom / ZOO Update
OK, firstly I apologise for not posting any updates on Brom’s condition. There was good reason, that I will get to later.
Brom finally looks like he has started on the road back to health. He is still a very sick guy and will be in hospital for at least another three ++ weeks.
The problem had nothing to do with diabetes like they first told us, basically he had a stroke. It was a rare kind of stroke called a “Venus Interect” which means it was a blockage in a vein in his brain rather than an artery. Evidently these are harder to deal with.
So he had the initial stroke three weeks ago on Friday. He then started to recover nicely until the following Friday when he had three further strokes. Again he initially started to recover, but then on the Sunday started to go dramatically down hill, to the point when they thought it could have been terminal!!!!
He was then transferred to another hospital in Birmingham (The QE) to a special Brain ward where they started to pump him full of stuff to sort his blood out. The problem was not just the clot that had caused the strokes, but he also had intracranial bleeding. So on one hand they needed to thin his blood to clear the clot, but on the other hand they needed his blood to clot to stop the bleeding in his head.
Now the reason for no updates being posted. Basically two days after I posted up that Brom was ill and away from work, the ZOO was ram raided, which I nor anyone else thought was a coincidence. Thankfully the wankers didn’t get in. The ZOO is now fully secure again and has been totally emptied of all customers cars and equipment. So if the tossers that had a go the first time fancy going back, then feel free as it is now an empty unit.
Brom will re-open the ZOO as and when he is fit and well to do so.
Brom has come on leaps and bounds over the last three or so days, going from a virtual comatose state, to now being able to move all of his limbs and being able to eat proper food (if you can call hospital slop proper food). He still has a long way to go, he can’t really walk yet and his speech is still not 100% there.
I am in daily contact with Broms parents and Broms mom is happy for this post to go up.
I would like to thank everyone who has helped me sort Broms life out while he has been in hospital, you all know who you are!!!
Thanks to all of the well wishes and calls and texts I have got, it means a lot to the big man. I apologise if I haven’t kept everyone up to date who I said I would but having the same conversation 50 times a day whilst running round like a blue arsed fly has been a bit tiring.
I will keep this post up to date as and when there is news.
Sean..

A stroke - jesus!
Wish him all the best, and if he wants DVDs/PS2 games or something to play, then I'll be happy to pop up and drop some in.
Be happy to pop up anyway really, as I'm sure a few others would, although understand if Brom wants his privacy.
Get better soon fella!

Glad he is on the mend.
A chap I worked with at Kodak had a similar sort of thing. It actually occured from his head being at a dodgy angle while working in a tight space (probably not disimilar to angling your head under a car)
Anyhow, it took a few months but he retuned to work with no noticable side effects. Best wishes to Brom that he is the same
