the ones we use at work are from a company called microlise
alerts everytime the vehicle goes outside the paramiters set by the planning computer, so if you go off route it pops up with "unauthorised vehicle movement" or you break the speed limit and it says "overspeed" with an exact location and speed reading (to 5 decimal places!!!!!) or if we stop where we shouldn't it comes up with "unschedled stop" and even tells you when you turn the ignition on and off
plus everything else you could think of

and we can keep a constant eye on it and it records everything and it's all on a database, updates every 2 seconds as well so you can proove that you wern't doing 70 in a 30

don't know if it's available to the general public though, but it's not a hidden away bit of kit, it's a brick sized box of tricks but if it's tampered with it also gives an alert
and you can't turn it off, built in battery and all that plus it's europe wide coverage

i'm sure the same sort of thing is available from the likes of tracker and all that
