Didn't think they were as high as that actually. Shonky old Fes did well then. Shame I can't tell the missus as she'll put a lump on my head for abusing her toy

Aye my aunt has one, took it out one night for a short spin, as with most VTI's you gotta rev the nuts off it, but it is a nice drive and while you were shaking your nuts off in the Fiesta the guy was smoking his pipe listening to Radio 2 with the air con on
Nah What kind of Fiesta is it?

To be fair I was expecting to hold level at best so was surprised I got past. I think our torque was about 185lb when it was dyno'd.

was gona say he wasnt trying but if the fest genuinely is 207bhp then i'll let you off
what shape was it and was it an import do u know??
I used to have the 3rd gen (best shape ) jap import 2.2 vtec which had 210 (with a couple of mods) and it was as fast as my mates 280bhp escos up to about 130 where mine used to go past him. That said, i raced a lot of other vtec preludes and none ever beat mine.....must have been the driver
plus I thrashed the shit out of that car for a couple of years and never once had a problem with it. fooken awesome car IMO

4th gen thats the one I've driven for a short period, One thing I will say, on the one I've driven she has extremely high servicing costs, eats tyres. The 4WSteering buggered up and they were gettiong wild quotes to fix it

I find mine does away with most things, traction is appalling off the line though. Was spinning in third this morning but I guess an FRST with that power would actually be a lot worse. They seem to have their good and bad days. Oh and if you don't see black smoke out the back and flames out the back the driver isn't trying hard.

I disagree on the traction side. as far as fwd's go with the same power I thought the traction was better than most, well from my experience especially as its very predictable power/torque so if you know how to drive they are easy to launch right.....
again, maybe its just down the the driver

They struggle off line line as MWF says due to inertia, but due to the equal length drive shafts there is almost no torque steer.
so they are great in some ways, and not so good in others, so you are both correct Jap Crap/MWF

Mines only a BB1 though.
I agree they are predictable and better than most 200bhp fwd cars but you are still fighting a loosing battle.

My mate has one, the shape with the "moody" front end and spaceship style dash. With a long trac induction kit it RR's at 183bhp
very capable all round car imo and now he has a cat back cobra exhaust system with a cat by-pass, it sounds the nuts, especially when the VTEC kicks in and if changes are made around the 7.5k mark, it'll spit flames out that a cossie owner would be proud of
