Rover Question - Mechanics-
I know theyre shit , ive been given a rover 214i 3 door on a p reg with 72k 7 months tax and MOT for free thats worth £500 of anyone,s money on ebay, however its got oil in the water (headgasget headset is £20 and skimming £15 so its a cheap fix does anyone know if this is the shit rover engine that the bottom end falls apart when you take the head bolts out of it?? ?? ok, ill get a gen rover gasget then , so its just the same as doing a gasget on any other car? set the pullys to tdc and slacken tensioner and remove head?

Yep as Martin said look in from the wing at the pulleys and all the marks on them will be horizontal. Its then safe.
You can get a tool to hold them in this position if you feel its necessary.
Then the rest is normal yes
Strip the head in a specific sequence by releasing torque on all bolts first before removal.

martin-reyland is deffo right!
my mate has head gasket go on his rover a little while ago,
used a non-rover gasket, and it went again just yesterday
about 4000 miles later.
the bolts do go a long way down, but nothing should fall to bits when
you take them out
managed to keep the bottom end all in one piece when did mates anyway lol
