Escort/Fiesta RST as an everyday car
getting rid of my lupo TDI, as i want somthing bigger, and up to 3k money wise
Got my Corsa track car, which i cant use evreyday, but need something nice, and can do 40miles a day to work etc
allwayy wanted an RST, but thought id have one as a second car, not an work car etc
anyone use one everyday, and any massive drawbacks etc

I used my Escort everyday for work up until June last year. TBH having a nice easy to drive and quiet car for the day to day duties is quite nice and I don't miss rattling my filling out everytime you hit a pot hole. Also means I appreciate the RST's when I do drive them.
Have to say whilst I was using the RST for daily duties it never once let me down. However it did poo it's pants when I thrashed it in the evenings and at weekends. In 10 years it's been on the low loader probably 5 times. All but one of these was down to the gearbox shitting itself

this is why i bought my lupo, so every time i drove the corsa it made it more intresting and ment i could go much more extreme with the vaux
maybe mk5/6 RS2000 may be a better bet

i use mine everyday , done 13k in 7 months, only prob was a dodgy fuel pump relay, + clutch is on way out. if you buy a good-un it'll serve u well, but then again buy a good-un and ull wish u used it as a 2nd car.
little things piss me off, like parking dings, the odd splutter, CONSTANT cleaning, spending loads on tar remover and my car being a magnet for other cars every1 wants to hit mine!
look after her, respect her and spent some dollar when nesseseseseeesery and there a top car for daily use, fine off boost + fun on!
id love to take her off road this winter, get a shitter, and rebuild the lump/sort body out a bit, but as im young, i cant afford to!
hope this helps

I have had mine for 3 years. Imported from south germany and it is a 1 owner car and with a full service history and it had done 87000 miles when I got her, and she has now done 123000 miles and she has failed me 1 time when the idle screw in the throttle body came loose.
Always starts, even in winter times and returns 11,7km pr 1 liter of octane 98. Its fairly standard but i opted for the pro alloy intercooler and got more miles to the gallon.
Happy with my car to say the least.. but thsi winter she will be restored and will get some more power and hopefully efi.

Honestly mate I'd go with the Volvo. On the rare occasions we've used one of the RST's for the TEsco's trip I spend the whole time worrying whether it's going to still be there or if some jelous fuck has keyed it or if some dippy house wife has removed half the side with a trolley or people carrier.
The Audi however, I couldn't give a fuck about
