Default turbo rebuild kits

fisrtly, can u buy a rebuild kit for a std t34 turbo (ie, new bearing and seals) and secondly,,, who does tham and for how much, thirdly.... can this be done by someone whos a competant mechaniic or do u have to have specialist tools etc (hence the huge cost of an exchange rebuilt unit)

1. yes.

2. yes. Think Stu does the rebuild kits as does Danny from RAD in Blackpool.

3. not sure.

these turbos need to be balenced to really high tollerences though so better off leaving it to someone who knows them better.

re the balancing, as the turbo is (as i believe not out of balance yet as its bearing wear is not that sufficient its not started scaping the fins of the compressor etc, ) in fair condition apart from teh seals and bearing wear. if the kit is not too expensive , it must be worth a go first, then if it fooks up, pay the dollor and get it done properly, dont want to pay 600+ notes for someone to fit a new bush and circlip in the back if thats all thats to it if u catch my drift
