Skidpans - Please help me.. well, my dad!
Howdy Doo.
My Dad has recently got his first car for YEARS (all he's had for the past twenty odd years are disability ones). So now he's got himself a little Clio (insurance is a bomb) and has fitted a new stereo etc. It is a joy to see and warms my heart
Anyway he now wants to have a go at skidpan driving. I've not been lazy and HAVE looked but all I can find are 3 hour sessions... 2 and a half hours in the classroom and half an hour in the car.
Now Dad is blind in one eye and unable to turn his head as well as a whole host of other problems. He does not want to learn (although that would be good too) but he just wants to hoon around in a car in the safest way possible. As he is means he cannot even attempt such things on a road (or an unused carpark! )
Can anyone help me at all? He's in Harlow and I'd like to find somewhere relatively close to there if poss. And if I can find one I may well go with him
Any help would be appreciated so much. Mum's in a bit of a flap!

Well that's the thing, I really don't mind paying extra if he's gonna get a good amount of time in the pub, but he just won't last the lesson, you're right!

Skid Pan:
The skid pan offers drivers of all ages the chance to experience and learn how to control a skid in complete safety. The concrete surface of the pan is treated with water and a non-toxic chemical, adjustable to vary the degrees of slipperiness

I got a skid pan course for my 2 brothers a couple of years ago and it was great. It was near Croydon and you got about 2 hours driving with no classroom stuff. Better still it was only the 2 of them on the skidpan as I remember (1 in each car) and lasted ages. Got to drive front and rear wheel drive cars. It cost about Ł70 then.
I think this was the place. Price has gone up a little bit in the last couple of years but not by much:
